@Diamond Damien

OP banned as he requested. He believes the forum is "giving me cancer" and we don't want that on our conscience.

Whilst the core of his concern appears to be the amalgamation and selling of information that's available for free - it's no different to someone buying a book on any topic - you buy the book as you believe your time is more valuable than the time it would take to put together that information for yourself. We don't accept many ebooks onto the marketplace, we leave that to other places...... We accept it's not a forum for everyone. Where we do draw the line is the abuse of fellow members, this is something we don't tolerate.

If you decide you're no longer able to add or receive value to or from BHW then that's your call.

If you state you want to be removed - then we understand, no hard feelings. I'll close the thread here as there is little more to add at this point and the OP has been removed at his request.

Disclaimer. Psh may have requested the ban via PM I don't know. Not my business. I'm sure that will be the counter argument.

His (Psh) points where valid while I read his ban comment as much more of a flippant remark. I do wonder if his JR Membership was also refunded so that's not on your "conscience" either.

I don't understand as a forum that you draw the line on abuse of fellow members and that's not something you tolerate.

However as long as you grease the BHW wheel abusing sales threads, bumping them or having members rush to 100 posts and start a BST is perfectly fine.

I would have thought that would also be a rather high priority or where the line has been drawn but I guess something has to keep lining the owners pockets.

You can't also issue a wide sweeping statement of "If you decide you're no longer able to add or receive value to or from BHW then that's your call. " as if the forum or you is bigger than us here. Without the regular members this place is dead.

If we all left your business has gone there is no one left to push or promote the ebooks and other crap that is now offered here, maybe a bit more respect towards the people who post and take part in the community for FREE should be a the core focus as once again without us here - the marketplace goes.

Can clearly see BHW is now ALL ABOUT the marketplace the money it generates. The rest of us here are just chumps feeding the machine.

Just take things easy.

Never personal.

This is business.

And it's fine.

Take value, give one if you can or leave.

You are just as thick then.

This entire business here revolves around the user base. Without people coming here there are no ads, no ads = no revenue. If no one comes here no buys from the marketplace = no users = no sales. No business.

Forum can no longer make money.

If you tell that user base to go or leave where is the business then?

Your reply alone shows how thick this community has become or that people here are just building post numbers for the JR VIP

If you tell that user base to go or leave where is the business then?
Yes, I'm proof of that, take a look at my reg date. I'm in my early 30ties and signed up only a few months ago. Users rotate.

Some users go away, new ones will join.

I get tonloads of free value here. I have purchased some small ebooks previously and if you are a beginner - they all can give you value.

PSH wished to be banned and requested it in public:

"@BassTrackerBoats - just give me a ban please, this forum is giving me cancer at this point. Can't believe a dumbass like ME, can outgrow this forum? Ridiculous. I miss the real info that used to be shared here, for FREE. Not with shit ebooks that give you ulcers. "

And @Diamond Damien granted his wish!

I agree, and barely anything (or nothing?) is given back. There are great suggestions like https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/suggestion-hire-some-verified-seos-to-write-content-in-exclusive-jr-vip-section.1314289/ where the users could benefit from, which are simply ignored.
It's just a 'money farm' / passive income source at this point.

Yes just the same as the forum was actually giving him cancer as well. Would love to see the medical science behind that.

Unless he requested it as I already pointed out. That entire comment should have been taken as a flippant remark. IF he ban was based solely on that one line then I do hope his membership was refunded at the same time...

Have you tried other forums?

Where constant spam, scam and bullshit is an absolute norm.

This place is soooooo clean.

And probably no one even thinks how fast this forum works regardless of how big the user base is and how many views it gets daily. It requires some serious hardware and setup to run so large forum so flawlessly.

No one is bigger than the forum me included don’t like it leave, feel upset log off and enter later. Also not sure what more info is needed because of all seo guide I read these days feel worthless because of all seo threads I read her. If anyt hung is missing simply ask for knowledge and it shall be given

Yes the forum has evolved, but that’s the way of all things. For me, blackhatworld has more knowledge and information as well as the best ethos among members, than any other place on the internet.

Does @Diamond Damien self-serve when it comes to his forum and it’s income? I would hope so because a business is like a baby; it needs to be nurtured and cared for otherwise it will die. Ultimately a business making a healthy profit is to the benefit of its staff and its patrons and nothing is different here.

Are the members of this forum important? Of course they are and @Diamond Damien knows that more than anyone I’m sure. But that’s also why we have the rules - to protect the members of the forum and the community spirit that surrounds it. In fact, how we implement each rule is focused on that very point; what effect will the subject of the rule-break have on the forum and it’s members?

You keep moving your goalposts.

First it was ridiculous to ban him unless he requested it.

Now it is ridiculous to ban him even though he requested it as his request should be seen as flippant!

Nobody is a mind reader. On a forum you are what you write, live by it or die by it.

It doesn't take time for a Clean Forum to become like one of them:)

What goalposts. His remark was flippant. If it was a serious one show me the white paper where digital forums give you cancer.

Like I said no one know if he requested one or not in private and I made that clear at the start.

@davids355 thanks for the reply. But it is self serving as for him it's source of income is the marketplace and keeping that ticking over is going to be a higher priority than the rest of the forum?

There is one rule for the rest of the forum and one for the marketplace no?

I'm pretty sure If I went off and bought a bunch of accounts and started to bump this thread to keep it relevant and on the home page id be shut but down, but as a seller that's OK?

He could have concluded his rant/opinion without indulging in insults to the forum and the staff members and for what, just because he doesn't like ebook sellers.
You can simply ignore those users who you think are selling worthless ebooks and get on with your life. As long as the content is not plagiarized and if someone is getting the value out of it, who are we to say that every ebook is shitty. Staff and staff reviews exist for a reason.

I'm not taking any sides here but saying that the forum is giving him cancer is an insult to the staff. Keep your emotions aside when you're doing business because you can argue as much as you want, at the end of the day BHW is just a business.

Absolutely not, no "counter-argument" required - the item you quoted shows where he requested his account to be banned. Where a member requests this then we're going to follow through on that request. It's also quoted on his profile and his ban reason just so he's 100% sure.

His (Psh) points where valid while I read his ban comment as much more of a flippant remark. I do wonder if his JR Membership was also refunded so that's not on your "conscience" either.

Where a Jr. VIP member no longer wants their account we process refunds based on the refund policy in our terms of service https://www.blackhatworld.com/help/terms/

I don't understand as a forum that you draw the line on abuse of fellow members and that's not something you tolerate.

As far as abuse of fellow members goes - it means we don't want to see intolerance or ongoing abuse in the community. It's a fairly clear statement and one of the core 3 items that we promote to all members when they sign up. We're a community and sometimes, as with any community, people disagree with what's going on. We have the fourm suggestions and feedback for people to post their suggestions. All of which are read. Many of which we already have a solution for so they are closed. The remainder are reviewed on their merit https://www.blackhatworld.com/forums/forum-suggestions-feedback.26/

His self requested removal from the forum is unrelated to his concerns about the marketplace and our apparent constant promotion of it. His concern from what I read was 2 fold.
1. That the information on the ebooks you find on the misc section of the forum could be found for free in Google or by using search on BHW. I don't disagree with him, this is a great forum with millions of posts with plenty of insight. The irony from my side was that he could also have found many previous threads that had answered the same topic by using the search function himself. I have no issue with purchasing a book or membership that provides me with the information that I require all put together in a clear and succinct manner saving me time and resource as an opener to further research myself. The forum is all about sharing knowledge on what does and more importantly doesn't work.

2. That we're in some way over-influenced or focussed on our marketplace members. Again this is a claim that I frequently respond to. $30 does not make or break this forum, the membership and readers make or break it and we are well aware of that. Unlike almost any other forum that I know of we test marketplace threads before they are set live. Our team work tirelessly to ensure there is a quick turn around so the latest products can get to you our members first. We reject about 50% during the review stage as they don't deliver on what they state they can in their thread from "guaranteed position 1" to "We will make you millions if you give my uncle $10000" (we don't actually test that one so no requests for $10k please :smirk: ).... Since the pandemic hit we've seen an almost 700% increase in marketplace requests almost overnight. Our TAT's went from 7-10 days to months. We've since invested in both process and headcount and have that under control to 3-4 business days.

You can't also issue a wide sweeping statement of "If you decide you're no longer able to add or receive value to or from BHW then that's your call. " as if the forum or you is bigger than us here. Without the regular members this place is dead.

Far from a sweeping statement and taken in context we're more than well aware that as a forum, like any society we are made up of 3 components a platform, a set of rules consistently delivered and most importantly the MEMBERSHIP of that platform. Where a member states they want their account removed then we must abide by that and respect their decision.

By stating
"If you decide you're no longer able to add or receive value to or from BHW then that's your call.
If you state you want to be removed - then we understand, no hard feelings. I'll close the thread here as there is little more to add at this point and the OP has been removed at his request."
that is simply what we did. We practise what we preach and respect the decisions of others, if you're not happy here then we respect your decision to leave.

Can clearly see BHW is now ALL ABOUT the marketplace the money it generates. The rest of us here are just chumps feeding the machine.

Far from being "all about the marketplace and the money it generates" - $30 does not MAKE this forum. The membership makes this forum, the buyers on the marketplace MAKE the marketplace. But I've covered those points above.

In short we respect the membership, sellers and readers equally in a tight ecosystem. Where someone states they want to leave - they leave. Where someone wants to sell we offer a platform that gives them that opportunity which also combines as a place for users to find reviewed and approved services. We're well aware that users make the forum and that has been the focus of the forum for the last 16 years.

Not sure what's the big thing here for some people.

Let people sell e-books as much as they want. If they're anywhere as bad as some say, they most likely won't even sell or get accepted to the marketplace in the first place.

E-books might have a lot of similarities (re-used), but does that mean they offer no value?
Sellers bring their own view on the topic and write in such way how they understood the topic.

What's the point in teachers, if all the material given can be found for free? Why pay such high numbers for education about topics that can be found for entirely free?
They teach it in such way that everyone understands the topic and can put it in to use.
Might be a bad example, but you get the point.

If you believe there are copied e-books that bring absolutely no value. Then cool, don't buy it, doesn't affect you. Grow up and leave it.

I don't understand the $30 remark.

But the forum does make or break the marketplace. Without people coming here they don't use the marketplace. It's not like the marketplace has it's own subdomain and is indipentant of the forum they are both hand in hand? Unless I have been using and browsing this place wrongly all this time.

If they where both two separate things. Then I would agree with your points however they are both intertwined.

$30 as you put it might not make or break this forum.

But having 30+ Stickies in the SEO Link building section vs the sub 20 it was some time ago may have even been sub 15. And then having two stickies visible on further posts does show that paying does have it's own privileges no?

I get you verify everything but how many SEO link building services can be worthy of a "pinned' spot? A real honest answer maybe a few.. the rest are there as they have the funds to be placed there. It's no more than that really is it?

Now you are ignoring the evidence!

Everybody who reads his responses can see he asked for a ban in public. That is where I quoted it from!

Nobody is going to be bothered figuring out if he actually meant it, was drunk or on drugs or whatever. You are just going to get banned.

If you would have read it you would see your core argument of "we don't know if he asked for a ban" is just wrong, we do, and he did and in public. As first I said and @Diamond Damien . For your convenience here is the link to his post:
https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/w...ketplace-with-rehashed-content.1317983/page-7
Scroll right to the end and he asks for a ban.

I'm pretty sure I've made the 'ban me comment' before I've had not had it. I think others have as well as a joke - and have still been here.

I've just uttered the "words that can not be spoken" above so should I assume one is now incoming?

I'm not sure why you need to try and relink something I've already linked to or if you are just glad that someone who criticised a product you sell has gone so "away with all the naysayers and we can rejoice" applies here.
