What's the normal/average rate for articles, is $6/2000-words fair enough?

Am new to online business and I’ve read a lot of blog posts suggesting article writing is the best way to get started especially for someone that's looking for fast cash.

I've landed my first gig but I feel the pay is low at $6/2000-words.

The buyer requested one article as a sample and after sending back the article within some hours, I realize his rate was $6/2000-words.

It looks like there is a lot of competition out there since I’ve placed dozens of bids on various sites but no response.

I've researched the article well and was written according to his instruction, but still want to pay this rate.

Or is my writing not that good? Here is a short paragraph from the article to rate my writing quality;

[ Important SEO Trends To Watch Out For In 2021

If you want to drive free targeted traffic to your website, you need to learn SEO, and it’s a never-ending process because the game is always changing. Google and other major search engines are constantly twisting their algorithm to remove low-quality websites from top searches. This means you need to watch out for the latest trends if you want to get higher rankings; your site ranking can fall at any given time because your competitors are always looking for ways to improve their website better than yours.

When it comes to SEO, the fundamental principles are always the same, but with many SEO techniques out there, it might seem confusing to find the one you can stick to in order to achieve the results you want. In this post, we’ll talk about the relevance of backlinks, the relevance of SEO and social media, different on-page SEO factors that matter, and other essential SEO techniques that will help you rank higher in search engines and also retain your rankings.]

Is this the normal rate for articles these days and secondly, are there sources out there that pay better rates?

I appreciate your recommendations. Thanks

That rate is obviously too low for any marketplace. Anyone offering to pay $6 for 2k words is an asshole for taking advantage of a new seller.

The quality is better than some of the sales threads on here who charge 5 times that.

Get yourself onto Fiverr etc.

You can check the Copywriting section in the BHW and check for the pricing yourself but what you are offering is cheap, if you continue with that price send a DM my way, I'm willing to start working with you right now.

Your writing is fine. $6 per 2000 words is extremely cheap, most writers charge more than that for 500 words.

Many people will say it's very low but let me state a fact:

In countries like India, $180/month is standard pay for a writer's job who has to write at least 4000 words per day.

It basically depends on your expertise and the country you live in. For online, you need to improve your skills to be able to charge competitive pricing.

Take a look at @magicherbs123's sales thread. He's offering a content writing service for around $20 per 500 words. That may sound very pricey at first, but that dude provides pure quality so it's worth every penny ;)

I will definitely try Fiverr, but I just hope the gig is noticed there since I've noticed there are many writers who have already earned 100s or even thousands of reviews.

I truly understand that, and even I wasn't expecting much for a start, I was just aiming for at least $2-$3/500-words.

Or... Just write it yourself for $0 per infinite words!

I wish I could do that, but if that's what seems to be the only option for writing even at such a low rate, I might consider it, it's better than doing nothing you know.

1 article a day is better than nothing a day ;)

Your writing is of good quality, that rate is extremely low.. In my opinion, it is not that important what others charge, the only thing that matters is that clients recognize the value of your offer. You don't have to charge that low just because you have no experience. Especially if you put a lot of effort into researching the topic.

It would have to be bulk work so that I can write at least 10,000-words per day which will somehow help maintain myself for a while.

Quality over quantity.
People like me, who want quality content, won't even read your pitch as for $6/2000 I expect only junk.
So you really need to find your place in a very competitive market.

I didn't propose at $6/2000words, I asked for the rate and that's what I got. For me, I will be ok with $10-$15 per 2000 words.
