How much do you usually spend on link building before a site starts making $500/mo ?
I've been spending $300/mo on links from a few months now and I'm unsure if I'll get the results I want and I have no clue on when I'll hit the 500 bucks mark.

none. I'm piss poor so I only target keywords that need no backlinks. And if they need backlinks to rank then I totally ignore the site... which is why I keep having websites built 2 years ago that are not making me any money lol

ouch! Then your keyword research probably sucked :(

The keyword research part probably didn't suck as I targeted really low comp KWs and a lot of them are KGR. For the rest, I'll have to recheck everything ig

Your mentality when it comes to links is flawed.

It's not about how much you should spend but what links will work for your niche.

The best way to do it is to study your competitors backlink strategy and improve on it.

And there is more to getting to $500/month than just building backlinks.

$300/month is good but you need time to reach $500/month.

so, it's the backlinks then. If your website is not deindexed by google it's either your keywords or backlinks. It can't be anything else. Also, I wouldn't trust the KGR thing too much. Sometimes KGR keywords don't mean anything, I've explained this few months ago so I'm not going to repeat why I think it's a useless metric.

Anyway, check if your website is indexed, and if it is.... then you've got probably scammed by the backlinking provider

Some links can push you into 1000 views per month, some don't even get you anything. Try finding a better backlink provider if you think the one your using is bad. I used to be deluded and trusted someone here but those links gave me no boost and wasted so many dollars in the process.

are you renting links or buying one-time payable links? For a relatively new site, you would see results after 6-7 months

Do you rely on KD score suggested by tools like ahrefs or your own analysis of the SERP?
This matters a lot.

its really depend on the competition of your niche, do proper analysis then decide budget whether its 300$ or more money required per month to reach desired target.

I spend $0 on links when I start as I only use money I earn from my sites.
There are many sites where you can get links for free... just search this forum or use Moz for free to analyse your competitors and get the links they have for free.

I usually spend x20 on links for what I make from a page daily,
the problem is on what do you actually spend,
many marketplace sellers just sell trash links that will get little to no boost on the SERPs for a $300 link package

You must find the best links that can make you a good ROI which you can get from reputable sellers and they're getting hard to find by time by all of these trash BST threads showing up from sellers with little to no experience on SEO

make sure to select your sellers wisely and you'll never worry about links once again,
quality links with a decent price will always give you long term good results
