A clients just called me a "high class bitch"

Fck that client, dude. Don't let anyone disrespect you. Drop it and get someone that actually wants to get things done.

I like most do not know enough about the role, location or client to comment either way.

BUT what I will say $2k a month is a fair bit. I'm not sure what you are doing for consistent web design etc (again can all make assumptions here)

BUT two thoughts come into play here:

1. If you are doing press releases that often why not work them into the average monthly fee with a breakdown of it being 6 PR per year or whatever then carry on the cost.

2. For the client to make that comment he / she obviously feels something is a miss recently where they are paying for something and it may take a while for a turn around or nothing is done.

AGAIN take my post with a grain of salt as I don't know you or your client.

Either way something is off in that relationship at the moment.

You are literally raping your client with the kind of price you are charging.
 
I honestly believe that you charge based on your confidence so there's nothing wrong about that. You can charge $20k per instagram post as long as you can live up with the expectations of the clients and you have a reviews to back it up. But for anyone calling you a high class b*tch is never acceptable. You drop the client and see how he struggles to maintain his site and he comes back asking to get this b*tch back, then you charge twice as much. Win-win!
 
Money is always better than pride, explain him the benefits working with you, and why you charge what you charge.
 
At $2000 a month he is a $24,000 a year client. Are you willing to give up $24k for a $500 invoice that may only have cost you $50 to fulfill?

Chalk it up to a lesson learned.
Move on and get authorization next time.

Can and should are two different thought processes.

20K for an IG post that does not give an ROI is not fair to the client.

I have a good client who is also a decent guy who I have been working with since around 2015 or 2016.

Originally I was just helping out a guy and didn't expect any return in terms of revenue as I usually will offer advice if I have the time and the request is inside of my scope of skills and knowledge.

He turned into a paying client 3 or 4 years ago and has been steady, reasonable and someone I enjoy working with.

He askes me now and then for things that are not in the deal we made and I always do them and never charge him as good business practices is to make sure your client is getting more than he paid for and I'm happy to give him that as part of our deal.

Do that and your client will be with you for years and you will feel good by over delivering and he will feel good as he knows you are going above and beyond to help out.
