Do you redesign his site every month, or you make new site for him every month?
Lets say you did X (put here anything) for a client but you forgot to remind him its going to cost $Y. You charge monthly fee so client have the right to think X is included in price. If X is not included in monthly fee and you forgot to mention about it - its your fault. Personally I would say to my client - its my fault, this press release is for free.
Always give something extra.
It can be pen, stupid cup or free press release. You dont want your client to feel overcharged/fucked directly in the ass because he can leave.
I remeber when my friend wanted to sell a car for lets say $5k (this price was very satisfying for my friend). One guy arrived and wanted to buy but my friend was a dick.
Extra set of tires - not included in price.
New set of car floor mats - not included in price.
Guy just felt like my friend is trying to rip him off. Result? No deal.
Dont be like my friend.

$500 is pretty standard price here in Sweden, I have never charged less for making the content of it and sent it out here.

So I had This kind of experience once in my past 2 years of service providing tenure as a freelancer. I told him politely about the issue and if he wants the work he should respect me otherwise its no use. I respect every client of mine and try to provide everything in the best possible way so that client never feels like he is being fooled or anything. He understood everything and we continued to work.

Locale may have something to do with the pricing... I should have thought first and typed second.
I can have the entire campaign handled for around 50.00 and usually do something like that as a gift to a good client.
I stand corrected though as I did not take into account we are not all in my location as I am a self centered middle-aged Amercian male.
You're missing the marketing point. First do you have a published price list with what's included that client signed off on? Second, he's not appreciating the value you're offering. Every client I've ever had always thought it was easy... until I walked them thru all the steps and showed them the light. Third - he may be having cash flow problems and is now looking at every expense. Maybe you could work on a service and value/results adjustment.
