Help! How to block WP comment spam?

Hi all,

I'm getting comment-spammed relentlessly. Like thousands a day.

The thing is I must have the comment section for my visitors to interact, so disabling it is not an option.

I thought of installing Captcha but it slows my website terribly and affects Core Web Vitals score.

I've installed those anti-bot plugin but no help there.

So.... is there a way to block these bots from spamming me?

Recaptcha will not slow your site down, install that and 99% of your problems are over.

Akismet Anti-Spam is what I use. The free version allows you to approve or mark comments as spam.

Use some anti-spam plugin with google captcha in comments,
recaptcha has nothing to do with your website speed as it loads as an iframe

if you have a problem with Google ReCaptcha, you can use this plugin:

You have to install Captcha, there is simply no way around it. Recaptcha should not slow your site down...

Yes CleanTalk is one of the best AntiSpam Plugin. I have test a lot of solutions but since i protect all my Wordpress sites with CleanTalk i have no any spams and problems with bots

It totally depends on the niche you operate in. In fashion, blogging, health, and many other niches you can see that comments are a very important part of the blog as long as they're made by real people.

Okay, so I experimented 2 plugins.

WordPress Zero Spam, and as most suggested, CleanTalk's Anti-Spam.

So Wordpress Zero Spam manage to cut down spam by as much as 70%. It is just install, activate, and nothing else.

CleanTalk requires you to register an account. But it manage to cut down spam as much as 95%. Some spams are still able to get through but it isn't much so I can just go through them easily with genuine comments.
