Just curious that's all.
I mean surely there's people who 'Never gave up' and died sad and broke?

Is there more to that popular phrase I wonder...

Point yourself in the direction you want to go a whether that is to earn more money, build a niche site, get a family, whatever.

point yourself in that direction, focus on your goals and never give up.

Sure you might not get where you want to be, but all the time you are moving in the right direction and bettering yourself.

Whereas if you give up, you’re not going to get anywhere.

Obviously you need to be adaptive though; if something isn’t working then tweak your approach.

Well , a direct example ,which would also include your words : If person X thinks he can break a wall by hitting it with his head , and he 'never gives up' , he'll eventually die Sad(for not succeeding) and Broken(not him,but his skull) .

As for your post(being real this time) , sure there are people that have everything they'd need to succeed, even the knowledge on the respective subject you mentioned , but the reality is that most of those in the situation mentioned by you, were just THINKING that they weren't giving up,while in reality they were . For example,if they'd have worked(or studied) more hours/day on their ?idea? the chances for failure would have been very thin .
This is accurate for a normal life with normal/good plans . If your plan is to 'become a billionaire & win a nobel & become the president of Narnia & bang Marilyn Monroe' , some of the plans may be too far away ,while some could be unrealistic.

People who "never gave up" died sad and broke....

Wow.... if doing this makes you sad, then just stop doing it.

Money is not the key to happiness, it's the shield blocking unhappiness. There's multiple ways to get that shield, and as mentioned 5 million times by multiple millionaires, you always do the work that makes you happy, not the work that makes you money.

If someone did IM until they died and they were sad and broke, they weren't sad because they chose IM and never made money, they were sad because they chose IM.

I didn't make money for 4-5 years, was I sad? No. I fricking love it. I don't mind doing this for free, the only reason I'm focusing on making money from it, is so I can quit my day job which does make me sad. Once I can quit my day job, I really don't care how much I make, just as long as I have heat, food and a shelter I'm genuinely happy.

Always give up if you don't enjoy the work with the exception that you depend on it for cashflow. The analogy being, don't let go of your current shield until you have a second one to pick up.

Thanks. I find it an interesting topic, even if I could have worded it better.

For me it's the freedom, security and choice money can bring - being free of the 9to 5, but trying to tie that in with something I enjoy that won't take decades to achieve a substantial amount. Not bothered about millions but the years advance quick

Cheers

Nothing is sure in this world, some things are out of our control and some mistakes can be very costly...

Most businesses never do great, but some do, generally with very good 4P's you can achieve a good results.

And sometimes a competitor arrive and crush all your hard work... still miss the old Nokias... they really fucked up their legacy...

You have to try but you have to think too, it's stupid to "never give up" if you try something meaningless that nobody cares about.

There are thousands of new products every day that seems nice and all but nobody will never buy this... well you get my point.

Research + action + confirmation + scalability = probability of a long ride with success :)

Great question indeed.

For me, finding the right path is what it's all about. If you're following a proven blueprint, learning every single day and taking action, then you'll eventually hit your goals.

If you're following a method that's NOT been proven "e.g. forex" and you just keep going at it, you might be very disappointed at the end of your journey or maybe even worse.

Do your research and follow a path where you can see a lot of people already achieving what you're looking to achieve down the road, I kind of feel it's a universal law. if you can't find a healthy amount of success stories, then that's a red flag and you should probably stay away.

I know someone close to me who's been in the forex industry for about 15 years and the "not giving up" mentality has basically ruined his life because forex is NOT a proven system.

For example, with a bit of research, you'll find out that most people "gurus" claiming to be making money day trading are making it through selling signals and courses and not necessarily through what they preach.

So the answer to your question really is, it depends.

So I did a quick Google and it seems to articulate better than I can -

Can I get your thoughts on this:

"Now try to guess what these somewhat successful people have in common: Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Tiger Woods, Reese Witherspoon, John McEnroe and John Steinbeck?

Yep, they all dropped out of Stanford.

Ever heard that ”Winners never quit and quitters never win?” What nonsense!

Look at pretty much any successful person and I bet their past is littered with things they did at one time and then gave up.

Sometimes you’ve got to stick with something, even through tough times. But sometimes you have to have the courage to give up. And you have to be open to the fact, that sometimes giving up is the right way forward."

Thanks that's interesting

Interesting, I almost took the same path than this person, but after 1 year I saw the forex game is fucked up and newbie trapping...

My final words would be, if you don't enjoy doing it for free. Don't do it for money. I do SEO for my friends and build their websites for free, I don't charge them a penny because I enjoy doing it. However if my friends asked me to help them move house, I'd tell them I ain't doing it without payment, cause I don't enjoy it.

I don't enjoy the 9-5, because I don't like someone having control over me. I began to think IM wasn't for me either because I couldn't find anything I enjoyed. I've actually made some great money in IM, but I hated the process so I stopped doing it.

I then discovered SEO where I get to theorise and test. I love it. Fricking love it. And I don't earn much yet as I spend way too much time theorising and testing, rather than implementing. Do I care? No lol. I love it. Money is a bonus, and happiness is my priority. I will never focus on money. And never get sad when I don't earn it. If you get sad when you don't earn money, then guess what's staring you in the eyes? A job change.

If you have recognized your target, then this is the advice

Else, this is insanity.

Depends. But really, is giving up is the right word here?

Quitting VS Giving up.

you can always give up or quit some bad habits like cursing or smoking or even bad company. But, you cannot give up on your goals to become successful or stronger...ETC)

Of course, you can do anything you want. quitting and giving up are two different things, however, you can do both. Just know, not everything was meant for everyone, work, sport, or even a hobby. Just make sure to realize who's who and which is which then take it from there.

I'm happy for you that you found a better path as forex is like gambling/addiction, the more time you spend on it, the harder it is to quit.

Once you make couple of hundreds "by sheer luck" after wasting thousands and "think" you've found the secret method, you'll soon go back to square one with hopes that some day you'll find a golden method that's sustainable.

Years go by and you end up wasting thousands of dollars and years worth of energy that could've easily been wisely spent on things that actually work.

Never give up on your dreams. But if one business idea isn’t working, try something else.

the way I found success was rapid fire testing. Testing as many ideas as I could. When one hit, I doubled down on it.

It is the meaningful thing someone has ever said about forex, you are 100% correct, it's not only about the money... It's about the time invested, the stress, the illusion that you will find the holy grail, chasing it year after year... The only ending forex journeys can have are sadness, depression and debt.

A real business is hard but it has the difference that you have a chance and hard work pays off, forex can take you all the hard work you put into and it will spit in your face and leave you empty..

Give up as soon as all of your energy is spent protecting downside. Perseverance is great for individuals, but trying over and over on a bad business idea doesn't help anybody.
