What is the best and up to date SEO book ? For beginners and for semi-advanced SEO.

Two good books on SEO are 'SEO Book' by Aaron Wall and 'The SEO Mindset' by Brad Callen. It is worth the money as otherwise you have to spend lot of time to get the same information from different forums and websites.

I would definitely say Aaron wall's SEO Book, the guy is a prodigy, and he looks damn young too. I'm not saying he is the absoloute authority, but he has a solid grasp on the fundamentals, and has generated a rather large following as well

If you want to get really deep, check out Information Retrieval by David Grossman. It's the textbook that many of Google's engineers read.

I think these books are good, of the ones that I have read, but they don't talk about blackhat really. Is there a solid sEO book that also has an honest and frank discussion about the merits of blackhat?

If you don't own these books... well, makes my job way easier when I move to dominate your sites in the SERPs lol

Information Retrieval by David A. Grossman is an absolute MUST HAVE though. Gives you way better incite into how the search engines operate and will give you an edge on the competition.

A Semantic Web Primer provides a systematic treatment of the different languages (XML, RDF, OWL, and rules) and technologies (explicit metadata, ontologies, and logic and inference) that are central to Semantic Web development.

This book also focuses on the development of the Semantic Web, with machine-readable content, which has the potential to revolutionize the World Wide Web as we know it. Reading this will give you a head start on your competitors. Get it, Learn it, Love it.

I've got to say though, this book isn't for beginners. It is a technical guide which can be used as a textbook and is in many classes on Semantic Structuring.

The complete package for a good understanding about search engine optimization is definitely SEO Book by Aaron Wall, just though I'd add myself as another person who's recommending it. It's really a great book.

Aaron Wall's SEO Book is certainly worth the time to read.

However, you can get away with not reading it.

Hell, you could get away with just reading Information Retrieval lol

I'd say SEO book by aaron wall is pretty good.

But truth be told, anything and everything you ever need to know about SEO, you can read for free online. In blogs and forums.
