People used to like namecheap because it's cheap and convenient. Although it is no longer cheap (better prices elsewhere) and has been more of a hassle than any other registrar I've used (including Godaddy).

1. Of the dozens of registrars I've used, Namecheap is the only registrar that sometimes sends seemingly arbitrary emails, seemingly at random times much before your domain renewal, where you have to "validate" your email associated to that domain. Failure to do this results in Namecheap seizing and re-selling your domain (keep in mind this is before its renewal is due; during your already paid for term). I've actually lost one of my most powerful expired domains this way, because the registrar account had an email I don't check very often.

2. Namecheap now requires activation email links to be clicked every time you login, before you can login to your account. To make matters worse, their broken security system continually has me having to talk with their customer support because the activation emails don't go through (despite repeated "resend activation emails"), to which I'm always told that my email address was (permanently) blocked by their system for not being able to receive mail (at some point in time). In other words, if any of their emails do not get through for whatever reason, they'll just block all outbound emails to your email.

If it wasn't for the fact that it's a hassle to move everything, I probably would have moved everything to name.com or some other reputable company. I think this registrar is being propped up and recommended off what it used to be along with having mass adoption.

Do others agree?

Oh boy.. I have failed to answer those emails to verify information most of the time and namecheap never sold my domain.

As for the two step verification.. I understand that you have some issues with the link, maybe is the email processor that has issues with processing the links because it never happened to me.. On top of that, I never heard anyone to have issues with two step verification systems.. You have to have two step verification anywhere there's money involved, the internet is very much unsecured all around.. I use around 4 registrars but I keep most of my domains in namecheap and never had issues..

What about web-host services, anyone experienced that?

I think you're among a few guys that think that way. For me, and i believe the majority here, namecheap seems to work just fine. Been using them since 2018 and have never been happier.

I've always liked namecheap especially since my previous main registrar was godaddy. Anything's better than godaddy.

Having said that. I think the pandemic hit namecheap hard for some reason, their support seems under staffed now. Things that used to take 5 minutes are taking 30+ minutes on the live chat. They seem overloaded.

My 2 cents about NC. I hope they improve again tho, never had complaints.

They can't resell your domain unless it's fully expired, if you miss that, they can resell it then as it's not yours anymore,
I've used them in the past and they were actually good, never had a problem and the support was better than most of the others

Honestly, been using them since 2010. No issues whatsoever, except for a suspension once due to resource over-use (and it was my fault). Other than that, I think their hosting is really good, and their support is available 24/7 (looking at you, Godaddy!).

I think people undervalued to much Namecheap, they are not gods. They aren't protect you from being seized. Their offices and Company are in US.

They advertise they protect your privacy, yes for sure with Whois Privacy. But they are overrated in every place in Internet, including BHW.

Namecheap have a good support, prices that's amazing. They fight for privacy with EFF, but they aren't offshore, they aren't bulletproof or something like that.

Retain this in your mind.

I also experienced this problem a few months ago. Once I activated 2FA with Authy from the Namecheap user dashboard, they no longer requires me to check the activation email. Just login with password, open Authy 2FA app from my PC and login.

Been using them since 2018 and have never been happier.
I had been using them since 2012.

I like namecheap. Support is awesome (they always managed to help me out) and usually pretty quick. Domain registration is streamlined.

Consider the godaddy hidden fees in comparison. They had lately a deal where .com prices were around 2$, but by the time I have registered it costed more than on namecheap and I had to click more s**t.

Been using them for the last 10-12 years without any issue.
Their support is excellent

NC is the Best hosting services for pbn .

Never faced any such issues and dont recall receiving any such emails

No complaints here

Please don't scare me! I just got a hosting plan with namecheap 3 months ago, and I'd hate for them to seize my domain names out of the blue and just because they can. Now I gotta change hosting again :(

I'm with those who still like NC. However, what are your alternatives? What are you guys using?

I'm thinking of Domain Hunter Gatherer as domcop is pricey for what I want to do with it.

As a domain registrar, they're 4th on my list, Porkbun is my first choice.

Hosting I tried their 'Easy WP' hosting last year and ended up wasting 3 days through crap support, being given wrong information and got a full refund.

1. I never kept all my domain under the same registrar. NameCheap works fine for me. Never lost a domain from them
2. really it does? lol, I haven't logged in for months now depsite having quite a few domains there. Sorry, never noticed. I do remember a year ago, i had a problem where the verification email never sent to me, but i changed email and it worked fine afterwards

Namecheap is one of my preferred domain registrar after namesilo & porkbun. Their shared hosting is great for small business websites, MNS or starter blogs. Good support system also their live support has always been helpful in my case.

I think that tastes are always different and that worth to be aware of other options as well and check what other companies can do and / or pride.
Being concentrated on one domain name registrar might be toxic.
Domain name registration market is also competitive.
