I don't know how many millions of times over the years I've found a domain that I wanted to use for a site/project and it's been a really solid name that would suit it perfectly, but realistically only worth $xxx or low $x,xxx at ABSOLUTE max, and it's the same old story of the donkey that owns it asking for $25,000 or $50,000, not having the first fucking clue about valuing domains, and is just a cancer on innovation.

Dealing with one of these window lickers right now... I wish there was legally some way to extort this guy because he deserves it tbh and these clowns drive me insane.

Like I understand people want to make a bit of money, but the disconnect between what they ask for and any kind of objective way of assessing value is beyond belief tbh.

And because they can renew indefinitely for $7 a year they're happy to prevent viable projects from being able to use the name indefinitely in the hope that some other motherfucker is as dumb as them one day and decides to overpay to the scale of 20X.

There are a ton of domain names and even user names squatters. So many brandable usernames on instagram are just taken and they're sitting there idle with no activity whatsoever. I don't know why instagram is not deleting those accounts and just releasing those usernames.

Fuck don't even get started on social media handles. Managed to get a few Twitter handles that were idol and they seem to have closed the loop that was there, but IG is just an ocean of killer handles going to waste.

The free market's all good etc etc but really would support measures to make sure that the best domains and social handles got to the best use cases more often.

Ok thanks for the tip mate. Have never been hijacked and keep everything locked up nice and tight, but appreciate the thought nonetheless.
