You should aim to take over, not take down.

Analyze why their website on #1 spot. Is it more backlinks? Better content? Aged domain? Figure out what's the advantage and build your site based on that.

Not a go IMO anyway. Try to beat others by out-blackhatting them, not destroying them. That's my 2 cents.

Second position is great. I think most people tend to check the first 3 results (I do, anyway), so you should be fine. If you want to be first just work on your site, both on page and off page. Don't try to "destroy" someone else who worked hard.

I found a competitive site, that was dead and inactive, on the 35th result page. I double-checked, the company was already terminated IRL. So, no harm, I guess

I built some spammy porn and virus-heavy links, using a free bot that I found online for such blackhat purposes. Guess what? This bastard was on the first page within the first week! It is truly outrageous.
