Mega.nz and Google Drive is something that have gained my trust over years. However, if you're to use those tricks/methods to obtain unlimited google drive space then I wouldn't guarantee you it as a safe and a decent cloud storage. Other than that, I've no complaints with Mega.nz and Google Drive till date.

Using HiDrive for server backups here, working great.

Now to the people who think Google still provides unlimited Drive storage for students, this isn't a thing anymore. It got limited when G Suite turned to Google Workspace and now you use a shared pool with all the organization members.

I m using mega.nz the old grandfathered 50gb accounts. New accounts are really shit since they only have 15gb. But there are some sources to get those 50gb accounts

I haven't used Google Drive for years. The ones I'm using:
mega.io: The best for private, sensitive documents. E2ee , open-source. 15GB space free for a lifetime and the rest is free for a limited time. The desktop sync app is easy to use, and I like it a lot. If you are using the other cloud storage providers, like Google Drive, the staff at Google can view your documents aside from yourself. But with Mega, only YOU can view your files. All the files are encrypted locally in your PC by the Mega Sync app before uploading them into their server online. More info about this here and you can sign up at mega.io website.

Nextcloud storage: There's plenty of cloud storage providers to choose from. Just go to https://nextcloud.com/signup/ , wait for the page to load and then click on the "change provider" link (press Ctrl + F if you cannot find this link) to select more providers. If you want the biggest free cloud storage, go for Tab Digital (8GB free). I prefer any cloud provider from Switzerland due to their strict privacy laws.

Yandex Disk: Not private, but if I want to upload private documents, I would encrypt with Cryptomator first and then sync.

you trust mega.io to be around for a long time. Personally, I am worried about many players getting into cloud storage, but most will not be around in few years.

do you feel lucky?! there is more of a chance of your account getting deleted vs being around for a long time. not worth it.

how long have you used pcloud for? do you use its own program to store all of your items? or another application to make frequent backups?

i really love syncbackpro and its incremental backup option. unfortunately it does not work with pcloud. it works with major providers like dropbox and google.

I've been using it for a couple of years. I use the official desktop app to access the cloud folder as if it was a local drive. I don't use it for system backups.

No, my user folder is still in C:\, but it's pretty much empty. I store everything on Google Drive, pCloud ot the external hard drive. I don't even make system backups because I have nothing there besides apps that I can always reinstall if something goes wrong.
