Shipping price from Alibaba

Hello everyone!

I am in need for some led lights for parents business and they are really expensive locally - about 30 euros (40$) a piece and they are probably imported straight from China, because the don`t even have proper packaging..

So I started searching where to buy them in China. In Aliexpress didn`t find anything, at least with similar speciicatiom, because they are not really consumer grade lights. Looked on Alibaba and there are much more options and they are much cheaper - costs around 10$ a piece, but the sellers want to ship it with Fedex or similar express shipping, it take like a week to be shipped, but there is no way the shipping would pay off, cause it cost like 70-120 dollars from different sellers.

I think - with one of the sellers, the volume isn`t large enough for him to ship it via sea or land, and the other sellers seems like doesn`t have direct contracts with companies and ships mainly smaller form factor lights, so the price is not good.

Maybe somebody has soome experience with this and can share some inormation on how the get reasonable prices for shipping. Forgot to mention - it doesn`t need to be fast - might as well be via ocean or something. I intenbtionally started searching for them early, so I can save on shipping, because I realistically need them for next seasson - on January or something like that.

Possibly would want to order samples, the weight would probaly be sub 1 kg. The main shipment would probably be about 10kg, maybe a bit lighter. Haven`t completely decided on the form factor of lights, but there is a chance that on of the sides of package would be about 150cm. Need them shipped to Riga, Latvia in Eastern Europe.

Would appreciate if somebody could share some experience on getting reasonable shipping prices from Alibaba.

The price of the lamp is like 2 dollars there, seems too good to be true. Is it safe to order from there, as logistics are pretty complicated anyway!

I think sellers from Alibaba only interested in selling B2B. That's why they prefer to sell low quantity items as a sample and only allow express shipping to check the buyer has the ability to buy bulk quantity or not. It's only possible to get products with a low shipping charge if you can manage a local importer who usually imports products from china and willing to share his container.
Regarding your other concern - buying cheap quality products from 1688
My suggestion is don't go for low-quality products. If you order you will find them in very poor condition. Also, poor quality products have less longevity.

Alibaba is B2B business. Sellers from there of course send via sea and land, it all depends on the quantity and size you are ordering. It will be best if you can get in touch with someone you know in CHINA and let him talk to the seller directly to fix the deal.

Sadly I don`t know anyone from China.
Seems like the lights that I need is not sold in consumer market and my volume is not high enought for B2B companies to be interested in it..

Are there any options for me to get them for a reasonable price?

Yes, contact with your preferred alibaba seller and talk with them directly. They use skype and other messaging services and you can directly discuss shipping options and order volume.
