does anyone still do youtube shorts? its good to get subscribers but i noticed it has a very low ctr rate

should i focus on longer video only 8mins or mix it with shorts vids?, i still dont know if shorts might have negative effect on my channel because of poor ctr rate

thanks

Shorts might increase your subscriber count but they don’t have the same behavior as regular subscribers. They most likely won’t watch your normal videos, and that’s where you make most of your money.

ok thanks i supposed i should make longer videos then...thanks

shorts are just good to gain subscribers and sell the accounts. These subscribers won't watch your videos at all.

You can grow a channel with shorts then send traffic to your main channel. That's one way you could use shorts channels.

Someone I'm subscribed to has two channels. One long videos, one shorter videos. He built up his main channel first (the long videos) and recently started his shorter video channel, on a daily vlog type style. Because he is so popular in the travel niche, his subscribers watch everything he puts out.

Some of you might have heard of him: Bald and bankrupt
I absolutely love his videos about traveling.

Great guy, I really enjoy his content.

I have noticed that most of the uk youtubers recently started to do youtube shorts. Some of them are even stopped uploading to their main channels and opened a new channel for shorts. I dont think the most subscribed channels in the uk are doing it for nothing. It should be profitable.

Shorts will not have negative effect on your channel, I'm currently doing it on my channel

yes it will have negative effect on your channel, as they bring inactive users.
You are currently doing it, i did it.

I agree with you about the fact that it brings inactive users, but that doesn't mean that it has a complete negative effect on your channel. A good thing to do will be to use it on a separate channel.

I wouldn't suggest mixing shorts and long videos on the same channel.

Never recommend shorts, unless yt make it official

Shorts have lot of negative impact on channel

Shorts are in demand because google shows them in search carousel and they earn additional traffic plus revenue. Do note that due to its short format if you can’t generate lots of views on them they won’t be profitable. I would suggest yiu to experiment between short and long and whichever works best for you then expand in that direction

Shorts barely show any ads. How are you going to compensate? A normal video usually has three ads in them.

inactive users= less ctr + no watch time = negative impact on impressions = negative effect on the total channel
