Litecoin provides practical value, just like all (most) cryptocurrencies. I can use LTC to do things I can't use a bank to do for example, like fast, cheap, permissionless transfers of value to anywhere in the world.
NFTs are jpgs that if they were printed on paper would be worth a maximum of $20 each!
They don't do anything - they are 100% hype and speculation. Cryptos are hyped right now, sure, but they have practical applications that provide unique and tangible value.
NFTs are garbage being sold to mongoloids that don't have the ability to apply logic to the situation to see they are buying jpg's for $xxx,xxx+ and all it takes is the first sniff of that market beginning to retract and it will crash faster than you can say "once you go scat you never go back"
It's a demand-driven market right now - once the demand runs out you better hope you're not holding a $xx,xxx crypto punk.

If anything, NFTs are an extra unnecessary step with that regard because just by the act of creating something unique it automatically has copyright applied, but now you go through the effort of creating an NFT for something that was already legal protected by it's very creation anyway.
Doesn't seem like a killer use case. There are literally thousands of ways to prove the initial ownership of a creative work without needing NFTs.

I use the BHW logo on all my websites. I've made tens of millions of dollars thanks to it.
Now, okay, maybe they're already copyrighted. But... okay... what if you claim you created a photo, but how can you prove you did? Like 100% prove it's yours? Like I take a picture of my toe and post it online, and someone uses it for whatever, and I catch them, but now how do I provide beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is my photo? Like, good luck with that.
Wouldn't this NFT business be a use case for this? I don't know anything about NFTs by the way, I'm just thinking outloud here.

No I mean you're totally right, and I've loved blockchain a lot longer and a lot harder than I love crypto mate. Blockchain is the reason NFTs are provably unique, and I think that is something that has a bazillion really good use cases.
Crypto punks selling for $80,000 each is not one of them. And imo, proving you own a piece of creative work you already inherently have a copyright on isn't either.
But the application of the underlying technology (ie. the provable uniqueness of NFTs for actual, practical, valuable, problem-solving applications), that certainly is something to be enthusiastic about.

No, that's not the idea.
You can buy a poster of a Van Gogh anywhere for $10 and hang it on your wall.
But if you want the original painting it will cost millions.
NFT is not about preventing people from having copies. It is about controlling and identifying original works as collectibles.

Depending on the NFT, you can buy and hold the coin that is used as a currency on the said platform to buy NFTs.
Technically, you don’t own an NFT, but you own what NFT is being sold for.
For NFTs to grow, there needs to be an increased demand. But that increased demand and popularity goes through that currency first.
Example: If you want to buy a piece of land on Decentraland, you can’t pay for it with BTC or ETH. You can pay for it with MANA (which is the Decentraland coin).
So everyone who wants to buy an NFT on Decentraland needs to buy MANA first.
That is bullish for MANA in general.
What’s the difference between buying an NFT and buying the currency?
In my opinion, and I am by no means an expert, buying the currency, you’re making a more diversified and safe bet that this NFT platform as a whole will grow and more people will join, which will increase the currency’s price.
The risks here are mainly associated with the possibility that new currency coins get pumped into the ecosystem which inflates them - of course with the idea to maintain currency price low and keep it accessible for new players who are just starting now (on Decentraland, just registering to play costs like 100 MANA).
Buying an NFT (digital asset) is associated with a lot more risk and of course a lot more potential rewards.
Why? Because you might invest in a growing platform, but if you pick that one NFT that is not perceived as valuable, your growth will be nowhere near someone who did. We’re talking about thousands of percentages ROI here.
Which one to buy for long-term is up to you to decide.
My strategy is to avoid gambling with NFTs and I’m keeping a small amount of a few NFT platform coins as this is the safer and more diversified approach.
With that investment I’m basically saying - I don’t know which NFT will grow, but I’m saying that this crypto sector will grow as a whole, and I will profit if it does.
I think it’s too early to speculate on specific NFTs. Some might do it successfully, but that’s not part of my investment strategy and philosophy.

I started playing a blockchain game called Alien Worlds. I bought loads of rare NFT's when the game first started for ~$1 each and now those NFT's are worth ~$20 each.
One of them in particular is now selling for over $300.
The value of my inventory actually went up $400 during the night. Crazy stuff.
