Hi,

Sorry for clickbait title :p

I just sold both my 8year old monitors and looking for a new ones.

I was looking at 2x 27inchs but at 1080p, would 1440p be better if i go for 27inchs?

However, since I was thinking of maybe getting 3 monitors instead, I think 27inch is a little overkill, so 3x 24inches at 1080p?

How many monitors do you guys use (Strictly for work, i only play games leisurely & rarely, so honestly idc about gaming)
What size & resolution

I have OCD and I need monitors the same size/brand/model or i probably go insane :D

I personally like to have 2 monitors, i have had 3 but i think 2 is better.

And yes, definitely pick the same ones.

or rather, size and resolution?

I've got a 24 inch and a 27inch at the moment,

my 27 inch is 1440p
my 24 inch is 1080p

Now you would think it looks odd, but it's really nice. Whenever I want something to look better, I.E games or anything design wise, I move it over to the 27 inch display. When ever I'm reading or browsing, I do it on the 24 inch display as it's nice on the eyes.

Hope this helps.

BTW, the size of your display should correlate to the depth of your desk. The further away the screen, the bigger the screen needed. My 24 is directly in front of me, and my 27 inch is diagonal but pushed back to give me more space.

@Dark Sky Cheers,
My desk isn't that big and at this current point in time I don't think I would change it for awhile, I quite like it, it's one of those L shaped desk.
Just a question
Does 1080p look crappy on a 27inch?

No problem mate,

I've created an L shape with 2 big desks. But it's more about the depth, the depth of my desk is 80cm and I can position the 27 inch just far away enough not to strain my eyes, but that being diagonal. If it was straight infront of me then 27 inch would be too big. Way to big... and I have 20/20 vision with 0 eye problems (I'm 25 years old)

The 24 inch straight in front of me is absolutely perfect on a 80cm depth desk.

That's why laptops always have small screens and not sizes like 27 inch because they are designed to be inches away from you.

Never tried it, but honestly I know 27 inch sounds appealing, but unless you have a desk with a large depth, you will regret it the minute you set it up. Like instant regret type of thing. I got a bit panicky after buying my 27 inch, I set it up infront of me to be my primary, and after 2 hours I had to turn it into a secondary monitor, even though it was £400. And my £100 monitor made it back to being primary.

If I wasn't a gamer I would sell my 27 inch within a heartbeat.

Literally the only thing I do on my 27 inch is gaming and designing, and I spend 16 hours a day on my computer. So considering I spent 90% of my time on the 1080p 24 inch, when I have a 1440p 27 inch, that should give you a strong suggestion that it's not good for work type stuff.

Movies are great on it though, I love watching movies on 1440p 27 inch. I can sit far back and see it.

1080p on a 27 inch though, not too sure. I'd probably look on reddit to see what they say. It's where I go for most of my tech opinions from people who own equipment, never failed me yet. Just type in google "1080p 27 inch worth it reddit?"

And then look for recent ones from 2020 or 2021.

Perfect, that pretty much solidifies my choice down to a 24inch
My depth is only 60cm & i prefer to have my monitors side by side, which won't work if they are that close.
Cheers buddy !

As for reddit, yeah a little contradicting arguments there about it, some say it's great, other says its will be pixelized haha
Some salesman for the store I was gonan buy at says "you need a 1440p for 27inch, otherwise its blurry"

Ofc, he may be right, but then again, he is a salesmen, sometimes you just have to take their word with a grain of salt.

No problem mate, yeah if you only have 60cm, 100% a 24 inch. I had a 60cm desk previously from argos and I would of commited suicide with a 27inch on it. That being said though, have you ever had a 24 inch on your desk?

Now this is where it gets a bit more in-depth.

I've just moved my 24 inch forward by 20cm, to replicate a 60cm desk. It's a bit too big, I'd have to sit back a little to make it okayish. BUT, my stand for my monitor is around 15cm depth as it's a triangle shaped stand.

That's the one I have, so take into account the stand on the monitor you buy. If it has depth, it can really make a big impact.

And yeah, 1080p on 27 inch might be too pixelated. That would be my worry.

Yeah, i had 2x 24inchs on my desk until about 5mins ago, where i unplugged it since the dude coming in a bit to take them off me
but they are super old, so i decided to sell them off to get new ones
They fit perfectly on it, and they are very comfortable, i was as little excited in wanting to upgrade but now im a bit cooled off and not impulsive, taking the pros & cons into consideration
sticking with what im comfortable is a good choice. .

One 24 inch more than enough but what's with people using dual monitors is it that good ehen it comes to productivity unless you are making a killing or I might be wrong

I guess that would depend on what you are used to using.
During travel, I use my 15" laptop for work and I do notice I am much slower in doing anything report wise and it frustrates me quite a bit too.

As for 2 screens, I constantly have 1 screen for xyz and another for reporting, and since in my position and for what I do, I constantly compare between 2 reports and such.
I find it much easier to do that with 2 screens.

Once again, once you get high enough Inches, you can split your screen into 2 as well but I know my OCD will kick in and be all anal about being more portrait than landscape view

i have lenevo 27p 165hz doing gaming and work with it and study working perfect, i tried to add another 27p but it started hurting my eyes and i couldnt work with that so i removed the second monitor now im feeling fine with one monitor .
