Anyone Buying Into Coinbase?

Crypto exchange Coinbase is officially going to become a publicly traded company. With a valuation of between $77 and 100 Billion.

Its Form S-1 has been published by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), clearing the way for its much-anticipated direct listing on Nasdaq.

This looks good. I am no business expert but does this mean that they cannot just vanish all of a sudden like what happened with mtgox? If so, this is very encouraging news for the investors (both who invest in their stocks as well as the crypto investors). Currently using binance after suggestion from one of the reputed members here. Will look into coinbase too.

I would imagine that everything will be checked rigorously before they get listed on NASDAQ so I'd say that they're pretty sturdy if they do go public. Probably would be a good investment as well because they're likely to go up in price when they get listed right? I don't know if or how you can invest in them at this moment though, prior to them being listed?

I know in the UK we have IPOs prior to a company going public, but I don't know if there is anything similar in the US?

Anyway, all that aside, its another big step forward for crypto in general and I am sure that Bitcoin and other cryptos will also go up on the back of this (Probably the news is already reflected but if Coinbase actually go public I think that will provide a massive boost to cryptos across the board).

Coinbase also confirmed that it is using Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Securities and Citigroup to “assist us with respect to certain matters relating to our listing.”

Other key details include compensation for CEO Brian Armstrong, who took home $59.5 million in 2020 all told.

I definitely will be picking up some for the long term. I wouldn't say I don't like the company's burn rate, but if they can be the only player in the game, it's a winner.

$70-100 billion seems like a high valuation and I question how much room there is for growth. Even if this company becomes a trillion dollar company that puts them at a 10x return. I prefer small caps with more room for growth but Coinbase seems like a safe hold. Above all this is great market exposure for crypto and another positive catalyst to push BTC pricing.

Does coinbase have their own crypto coin? If they dont, but come out with one at some point, i may buy the shit out of it.

So they made a net income 320 million in 2020 and the CEO took almost 60 million out of it?

In 2021 you buy any IPO the moment it opens and sell it 12 hours later at 2-3x. The inflation is real.

As a bitcoin holder no: i was using it in 2016 but I stopped using it due to the failure to provide private keys , and then KYC, also this will mean they’ll easily hand over bitcoin holders data to authorities which will create panic and bitcoin holders will leave them just a hypothetical scenario but I’m not a financial expert just a common man

I am sorry to bump an old thread; Coinbase (COIN) is becoming available tomorrow at $400+ per share from what I am hearing. I think that is steep, but I have bought stocks higher up as well. Just have to see if they have really cornered the market, or it's a B.S evaluation.

I was wondering what it would have opened on the market at. $400 is A LOT I guess I won't be buying.....
