What gives you motivation?

Motivation for what? Working?
For me it's these types of things;
Being able to live a comfortable lifestyle
Being able to work my own hours.
Being able to fly Business Class or First Class, then stay in top hotels, 3 or 4 times a year < usually >
Being able to sit here in my 'office' sat looking out at my swimming pool.

My motivation to work basically comes from being a total nerd. It's as simple as that; I love computers I don't know why I just find technology fascinating and I understand it, so it's always easy for me.
That's why I think that it is so important to find a job that you are passionate about and that you love; where ever possible. That's basically the best way of creating synergy between two important things - your enjoyment and your survival (money).
Having said that, I never really earned much money at all, for a long time, because I was just so passionate about computing I was happy to do it regardless of how much money I earned from it - that's actually pretty dangerous when I think back because I could easily have coasted along and not really made much money.
It did give me lots of experience though and the two big things that notched my motivation up about 500% were my wife (Who has a desire for the finer things in life) and having children - when you have children and you suddenly become financially responsible for multiple humans, you have no choice but to kick things up a gear.
So basically what I'm saying is, do what you love and have some kids
