Elon pushes bitcoin hard because he's held his money in digital currency - he is after all the co-founder of one of the first electronic wallets.
You have to understand that these billionaires aren't pushing what they think works best, but what makes them the most money or helps them retain their fortune.
If Bitcoin was crashing, Elon isn't going to tell people to pull out. He'll encourage people to buy now because the rate is low before it bounces back. Same with Bill Gate, they want you to prop up their fortune.

Cash is used by criminals for centuries, does that mean we shouldn’t use it? Crypto is the one thing that can’t be controlled and they hate it.

On the flip side, look at all of the persecuted people around the world in dictatorships etc that have been able to freely receive funding via cryptocurrency when their national banks have closed their accounts and prevented them from being able to use the mainstream financial system.
Look at all of the people in Venezuela that have been able to transition their funds in to Bitcoin when the value of their own currency has done a daily swan dive for years, taking what little amount of wealth they had left with it, where after buying BTC not only has their wealth not been devaluing any more, but they've actually been making money.
Crime is a tiny, tiny insignificant fraction of the total application of crypto on a daily basis.. it used to be a majority in 2011/2012/2013, but now things are vastly different.
