I see a lot of conflicting information about this.
Some people say it hurts their traffic, some people say it boosts it. From what I understand, group boards are helpful but only if people in that group re-pin your content. If they don't, your re-pin rate drops, and that hurts your exposure.
Is my understanding correct? Please let me know if there is something I'm missing.
Also, if it's true, wouls it be worth it to try making 10-15 accounts using VPN, and to use them to re-pin my conent?

Hi, yes, your understanding correct. If your new pins getting clicks, comments, tries, or re-pin. It will help to make your pin viral means your pin will get more distribution. Please kindly in mind that Pinterest had been reducing the distribution of the pin save to the group board in 2018. So, only put your effort 10% on the Group board, you will need to focus more on saving your pin to your own boards.

The strategy that you want to use using VPN with 10-15 accounts maybe unsafe. It’s better to use an engagement group on Facebook to reciprocate your pin. If you want to join the group board to reciprocate your pin with others, I suggest you join a small group board. It will be less spammy. I also recommend you use the Tailwind tool since they have Tailwind Community that can help you reciprocate your pin with other bloggers. :)

Thanks for the advice. I already tried both but didn't really see significant results

You can also change your pin image by building curiosity so people want to stop scrolling and click your pin image. Or you can make an infographic pin that can encourage people to re-pin since you provide valuable information on your pin image. It can drive more re-pin to your pin and widening your reach. Keep testing and see which one works. Ensure also that your pin can be found and getting an impression by utilizing the optimized keywords on your boards and pins.

Thanks, I was thinking I should try posting more infographics too.

I think something is wrong with my reach right now though. Or with pin stats..

I check my real-time estimates multiple times a day to see what types of pins perform better. But each time a few hours pass by, the impressions and pin clicks are much less than it showed before.. What's up with that? I have 93 followers currently, I use trending keywords in title, description, and alt text, I pin on boards that have keywords in their name and description (and sections), and I post to group boards with thousands of followers.. And somehow I barely have more than 120 impressions on a pin that's been published for two days now.. Doesn't seem right to me.. Am I missing something?

There may be several reasons, the keyword you're using may have less search volume hence the impression less. Ensure also you're not spamming your URL page to several boards in one day or three days in rows. Currently, Pinterest demands us to create a new fresh page URL more, pinning the same URL page may reduce our pin distribution also. So ensure to create new fresh content also. My suggestion, you need to keep testing your pin image and text, then see what's working
