OK, I don't know if it is possible, but is there like a Google blacklist for sites? I tried searching for a sentence in my blog using exact quotes and found nothing on Google. My blog isn't even in Google at all! How is anyone supposed to find it?

If blacklisting is possible, is there any way to get off that list?

I've had it since Dec. 29th.

I am just starting to find out about SEO and I linked to my blog in some forums, but it is still not showing up.

There is also another blog that I've had since 2006 that isn't in google at all. But I only posted to it for a couple of months or so and then basically forgot about it and haven't posted anything in it since.

It is not indexed yet. Try antx16's post on quick indexing and backlinks. You can find it using the search facility. In fact, no disrespect, you may want to settle down to some good reading. Questions like this have been answered many times before and not using the search facility for frequently asked questions can result in a penalty on this forum. All the best.

Since the blog is new, and you said you are new to SEO, here is how you check to see if your domain is indexed by google. Go to google and search the following:

site:yourdomain.com

(replace yourdomain.com with you actual domain.. ie- blackhatworld.com)

If it shows you results, your site is indexed. If it says your search did not match any documents, your site is NOT indexed. (means, google doesn't know it exists yet) To get indexed, you need some links pointing to your site, and then it can take some time.. it can be as short as a few hours, or as long as 7 days... The easiest way to get a good link pointing to your site, is create an account on jumptags.com (it's free, it's a social bookmarking site) and bookmark your site there.

One more important thing - because you said it's a new blog. Did you install WordPress? Did you install it using fantastico? If so, the DEFAULT setting is to NOT allow your posts to be indexed by search engines. (well.. this might have changed since 2.9 came out a short while ago)

Go to your privacy settings and change it. (Settings, Privacy, change it there) If it was set to "I would like to block search engines but allow normal visitors".. that's your problem right there.

Hope that helps!

Woohoo! My blog has finally been indexed by Google! I thought it would be odd to get blacklisted just for including a hop link in my blog!

I searched for the exact sentence in one of my entries and I found it! I'm so excited! I'm on the web now! Yay!

So far I've only had 15 unique visitors to my site though. ROFL

I love my blog. I love writing in it. I hope more people will be drawn into it as I add more content and links to it.

Congrats. :)

So did you end up doing any of the things I mentioned in my post, or did it just happen with time?

Good to see someone with some real honest enthusiasm for things starting to work for them. Here's to hoping it becomes profitable for you!

My blog is a Blogger one, I think it just got indexed with time. I have been posting links to my blog on forums also. I did also submit my URL to Google.
