Hi, I just wanna ask, duplicate content will affect SEO or not?

Yes, it affects SEO and decreases the keyword ranking and overall website traffic

if your content is the original one, it may affect for a while but should be fine shortly. but if it's the other way around, you can even get penalized for that!

So, you mean if i duplicate the content on your website, it is almost like doing a negative SEO against your site?

Of course it doesn't. Search for this and analyze the results:

Southern cities slammed by winter storms that left millions without power for days

You will see:
- the same article appears in all 10 SERP positions.
- the original post (AP) was not indexed first
- no sites were "penalized" for reprinting the article
- the most authoritative sites are not all at the top
- the snippet was not given to the original site nor the most authoritative
- the SERPs are not ranked in any order of the indexed time

It is a myth that duplicate content is penalized by Google.

It may not get you approved for adsense (low value) if you don't also have good original content elsewhere. It may get you a dmca takedown notice if you stole it so spin it well.

You can do many simple and practical tests to confirm this.

Google is not a magic genie who knows all. Google is an algorithm that follows (complex and deep) sets of rules.

Argue amongst yourselves...

Yes it will if are competing for the same keyword then yes.

Duplicate content confuses Google and forces the search engine to choose which of the identical pages it should rank in the top results.

Duplicate content can present some main issues for search engines. They don't know which version to include/exclude from their indices. They don't know whether to direct the link metrics like trust, authority, anchor text, link equity, etc.
