Reddit mods really are something else..

Most Reddit mods are VAs. They don't waste much time explaining why & how.

That's because some are high on the power and this is the only 'power' they have in their life.

Others are corrupt and charge for access or get paid to only let a few sites through.

There was this guy on Digg, mrbabyman who used his power to sell to companies on the frontpage. He bragged about it to some blog one time and eventually people protested against what was happening leading to Digg's eventual downfall (among other things).

Reddit as entertaining as it is, suffers from groupthink. You can feed it wrong information and easily game it so long as you're a bit creative with how you sell or promote.

Going in with the intent to directly sell will fail. You have to find a way around looking like you're trying to sell.

It's not really reddit, its the internet in general. Most websites with a "general community" are horribly managed with mods that engage in actions that if they did it on a professional site like blackhwatworld would get demoted and probably kicked off the platform.

As screwed up as REDDIT is, Wikipedia editors take the cake.

Lots of corruption.

The level of conflict of interest is almost at the same level as the defunct directory DMOZ
