I need your opinion. I am going to open a outdoor equipment sale company on web.

Should I register a new domain like for example barnellaoutdoor.com?
Or
Should I buy 10-15 years old aged 4-5 chars like barn.com, barne.com or smth like that?

Which would be better for me? 4-5 chars domains are expensive. Is it worth it?

Are older-aged domains better for Google Ads and SEO?

Should I put "OUTDOOR" keyword in the domain name?

I would be very happy if you share your opinions with me.

Shorter domain name would be better for both Google SEO and PPC.
I will suggest to buy old domain with 2 words in it.

Check this website, there are plenty of old domains with metrics available.

Start with a longer name you can get for reg cost. If the venture is successful, you may always get a premium 4-5 letters domain and transfer the shop there.
Investing 20-30 k into the premium domain name if you aren't sure it will make a profit on it - doesn't sound good to me

You can filter out the list with aged domains which is recently got deleted from the owner.
These are not expensive domain, if you check in godaddy you will know it.

Go with short name and aged domain without SPAM (This is must). Make sure history is clear, no spammy backlinks etc. Then you will have an edge over your competitors.

I think going with aged domain with good backlinks profile and two word name can help

It’s almost certainly a financial issue. Obviously, an aged domain with established metrics is going to provide more value than a fresh one. Unfortunately, it can run you into the thousands.

if you have a lot of money backing your adventure than by all means buy the domain you want but if you’re not going to be a multi-million dollar company its probably better to make your own. Deals are out there though!

obviously that the shorter domain names are more impactful and better for everyone. So, go for barn, barne, or any other variation as long as it's decently shorter than barnellaoutdoor

Regarding SEO.... aged domains are better because they will rank faster and also can be "spammed" with backlinks easier than new domains. But the important thing is for the domain name to be clean (non-spammy backlinking history), so you will have to do your due diligence before buying an aged domain name.

Regarding Google Ads.... I don't think it matters. I'm not every knowledgeable here since I don't do GAds, so you'll have to wait for the opinions of more experienced people

As for whether or not you will put "outdoor" in the domain name again it doesn't matter from an SEO perspective. But the shorter the domain name, the better for braindability and user experience... as long as the domain is clean, like I said. If it's not clean and you simply can't find a short, impactful, brandable domain then barnellaoutdoor is one of the best options you have. But again, you need to check if the domain had not been used and/or spammed before and that it doesn't have google penalty

If you don't want to spend a lot on an aged domain you can still get a fairly short new domain name. I would suggest thinking about your branding a bit. North Face doesn't have the word outdoor for example. I am not sure how important it is to have the word outdoor in the domain name.

Perhaps you could find an alternative word synonymous with outdoors also that may well be a cheaper aged domain alternative.
