So a $106 balance on an Amazon account would buy you a $100 visa gift card, for about a 6% cost. Then easily change the card balance for cash.

You can buy with your Amazon credit balance, just checked. Just redeem the gift card, the balance once on your account can be used to buy gift cards.

My error, then. Nothing on their order page upfront suggested the Amazon balance cannot be applied to buying gift cards. Other methods of cashing out are covered here.
