I had been reading about some sites losing traffic in the past 1 - 3 days and it seems there’s an update which is to be blamed.

I noticed a dip in clicks through to Amazon the past few days and sure enough I find this thread

Of my sites, one white hat site got a massive traffic boost starting 28th, however one blackhat one seems to be in decline since 19th Jan? And another in decline since around 28th.

SEO is becoming pretty much pointless at this point with all these updates.

i can confirm. all my sites were hit. but not by too much

For more than two years, my websites' ranking up and down.
I think Google is giving fresh and new contents more power than before, so I focus on updating my contents.

There's usually only ideas and theories around what is going on, only google knows what they did and why. I would suggest just waiting things out as there are further google updates likely in the pipeline.
