Medium to subdomain or not?

Do you think google is so smart that even though I claim the subdomain on medium it will still give me that big medium domain power?

I know it does not normally work like this.
What have you seen rank lately on medium only medium.com/@handle/article or also subdomain s?

Really need your input. Thanks.

It's hard to rank subdomains on Web 2.0 old tricks which takes your all focus and time.

You can claim it when logged in
Go to : https://medium.com/me?showDomainSetup=true
Click on the Claim button on the modal. It will activate it right away if it's available.

got it. i still would go with sub-folder method: medium.com/userid/post.... ... a sub-domain is a different URL from google perspective

I have seen this option in medium, but i am hesitant as i want the full power from the top medium .com domain
