Sorry to hear about it. Yeah, there have some fake vendors according to my experience. But if you can find out the right one then it will be helpful for you. You can easily buy/sell websites from there securely. I recently bought a few domains from BuySellEmpire. The more important factor is they only charge a 5% commission of the total price. And provides faster service than others.

I would say around at least $2.5k - $3k for a quality site. A website with $100/mo income for sale under $2k is questionable (only if the seller don't need urgent money).
Make sure you verify the income and the traffic.
