I think he actually said that he just want to inspire future generations to continue what he started.

He didn't start anything that he is doing, its literally other people's ideas/companies that people give him credit for "coming up with". The Tesla Model S wasn't the first successful EV either, the Nissan Leaf preceded it by a few years but was marketed towards a different demographic. He also bought Tesla from the founders and part of the deal was allowing him to call himself a cofounder.

Robert Goddard and Wernher von Braun did more for space travel than anything that Elon Musk did, and they had to do it with pencil and paper.

I really don't care if he used to borrow or not, but hating on someone that successful because of what they've achieved is pointless.

The guy is nowhere near perfect, but there are many things to learn from him.

That aside, why don't you borrow yours too and become the richest man in the world and a major player in the industries he is and has been in? It's that easy right?

You're mistaken. People don't follow him because he is the wealthiest person in the world, they (people) obey him (Elon) because they think that he is a great revolutionary guy. And that's the problem, cause all of his revolutionary ideas are still in paper.

Meanwhile, people are obeying him for the wrong reason.

Confinity the company behind the product paypal merged with a online bank company Musk owned, the service that Musk's company provided stopped shortly after the merger, and Musk was replaced by Peter Thiel as CEO. Ebay bought Paypal and they are the ones that made it a popular payment processor.

The space industry is the only industry where a Musk company is a major player.

X was the company providing E-Mail money transfer, which is what made paypal so easy. Confinity was a company for cryptographic transfer from bank account to bank account.
The interest based business model of Confinity failed miserably and they changed to a system proposed by X - a transaction fee model
Also PayPal was way more successfull then any other competitor, way before ebay bought them. Ebay already bought a payment processor, and offered them on their platform, but hundred thousands of people were requesting paypal every day, thus leading ebay to buying Paypal.
