Their competitors are trying to outrank them with those negative seo techniques. As you see, they have big authority but its not thanks to this spam method. Their competitors are simply doing this. As a result, google doesnt give a fuck about these negative seo shits as they stand still strong.

They told it. But there are many many websites from them for same KWs with those techniques. example: one Of them, in 10 days made first backlinks (thousands of course) and gained almost 10M traffic. What was their authority then, without backlinks?

I believe this is the case as well. I have seen this happen accidentally on one of my sites where competitor was doing negative SEO spammy comment backlinks with bad anchor text and it was a similar scenario where I eventually got a boost.

It is def something similar to GSA but the massive amounts of scraping to find that many sites is the curious part, or maybe whois database and going from there.

If you don't want comments at all, "Disable Comments" is a great plugin for that. If you want to have comments, Clean Talk anti-spam is a good addon/service. You can also require comments to be approved by a moderator and I think WP has the ability to block key words, or maybe that was an addon?
