Hi,

I am about to start my first blog and my plan is to go after undeserved informational articles.
My goal is to monetize blog primarily with display ads, and if possible add some natural affiliate links.

Question I have is:
Can I go super broad? For example if my blog is about animals - can I write about tons of different animals at once or should I go with couple of different animals at the beginning and then keep expanding?

My personal experience is that broaded the website, harder to rank.

On the other hand, if you put in the work you can have massive money maker in your hands.

I Initially wanted to start very narrow, but in last few days I randomly popped on some blogs with very low DA with extremely broad topic that actually rank in top 3 SERPs for more than few keywords with pretty decent search volume.
So I wanted to check other opinions

You'll have to try it honestly.

Blogs you described are perfect example of sites ranking after last update so yours might be success as well.
