Expired domain names, will this work?

Hey guys, so I am considering getting an expired domain name and I am wondering 2 things.

1. Is Spamzilla a good software to get expired domains or is there a better option?
2. When I get an expired domain name that was about something else, will my ranking drop if I build it about something else.
3. Will all the backlinks disappear if I register an expired domain?

Never used it before but of course there is always a better option of anything
2. When I get an expired domain name that was about something else, will my ranking drop if I build it about something else.
check the backlinks and analyze them , more anchor text in your niche is better but better to stay in the actual niche
3. Will all the backlinks disappear if I register an expired domain?
no the backlinks will stay

2. Yup, there's a high chance that Google will catch you and drop your rankings because of non-relevancy. So you should always invest in highly relevant domains.
