I have an idea for a new college that doesn't cost a lot of money here's my idea. an online school with a peer to peer learning system where teachers come to the houses and help the students, the school gets funding from online ads on the school website. no more annoying buses that look like giant yellow twinkies. also the school receives funding, and one awsome thing about this school is it doesn't use outdated methods to teach kids how to learn and teaches kids in the most effective manner. it will be a lot cheaper because the buildings will not be needed it can all be done at home. The supplies are bought and given to the kids from funding, also the college would operate in the same manner and would be structured in such a way where it takes them a lot quicker to learn to be a doctor like a year or 2 years contrary to 10 years

this is something that angers me someone should not have to wait to get a degree someone should just be tested to see if they meet the requirements and every school should teach these critical skills that are not being taught such as how to learn, how to think for yourself, how to be yourself, how to find your passion and purpose, what you want to do with your life, I could go on and on. also the school will have a extra independent research forum where kids can let there curiosity flow and get advice and learn whatever they want. kids can also get written statements from people saying there good at whatever skill

also since this is person to person teaching it wont have the expensive materials anyone can make money teaching others as long as they meet the qualifications

This is something I'm interested in starting I'm sick of these college scams people pay thousands of dollars everyday just to get a degree and graduate with six figures in student debt!!!

another feature could be to work with companies the teachers to show that this kid or whatever meets the requirements of the job and can get it, the goal would be to make a college degree worthless so anyone can learn for free online or pay significantly less

does this sound like a good idea? any suggestions to make it better?

This is pretty much it, if you know what career you want to follow then college is and can be very useful.

Most people head to college because its the next 'step' in our schooling life but going to college without any real direction/plan can make it feel like it is a scam.
 
First of all, how can this system be less expensive? Because there are no builidings? Lmao.

First CON:
It is WAY more expensive to teach every child in private than it is to teach the SAME STUFF to 250 people at once.

Also, it would be a crazy inefficiënt use of time lol.

Second CON:
There are already too little teachers, how dfck are you going to make it happen to give everyone his/her own private teacher?

Or does one only gets education once every month?

Third CON:
No mental seperation, home equals chillings, family, enjoyable moments.

School means focus, connecting to friends, education..

Or do you want these folks to be even more depressed?

I feel like you watched too many internet guru’s telling you college is a scam so can buy their courses, you probably also watched too much of Prince EA while smoking a blunt.
 
I think college & university education is great, never paid for it, my kids never paid for it either. It´s "free" education in my country, almost, we all chip in with the regular taxes, it´s called community funding in large scale .. =) Every youth has the right to get an education, even if they have a less fortunate economic background, rich or poor, they all count.

I would've thought that the average higher pay of college graduates as compared to high school graduates is evidence enough that it is not a scam. Maybe you think it sucks, or whatever you studied was shit, but that doesn't really prove anything

It didn't use to be a scam, what they failed to do is keep up with the times.

As more and more people get diplomas in their generation, they become less valuable, it's basic supply and demand. They should have either made the courses harder, or upped the requirements to bring the supply down, which increases demand and the value.

It use to be, you pay for both the diploma and the education, now it's just the education because the diploma is worthless.
 
I think it’s a good idea except for the fact that some children need to socially interact with other children and some children need a competitive environment to learn.

Yet, with a diploma you are far more likely to be hired than someone else who is also apllying for the same job without a diploma.

I've spoke to around 8 managers from 8 different companies about this, because I was curious how it affected me dropping out in year 1, every single one has said the same, they always lean towards self learners over people with degrees, of course this is only in the IT field.

Now there may be some fields where they prefer degrees, however it comes down to value. How much edge did you get over the person without a degree, and was it worth the amount you bought the degree for?

I'd like a source regarding the fact you stated before I can go into any more depth.

Your idea isn't as great as it sounds.
Each student to have their own teacher would mean a class of 100 would have 100 teachers. Where would you get that number of teachers to teach millions of students? Do you even realize the financial implications?

College/University is scam to those who couldn't make money from what they were taught in school. I feel schooling is much more than a place where you go to learn things that would make you money.

There are still people who go to the university to study utterly useless courses. Sometimes I wonder what their motivation was and who was funding such madness.
 
College is a scam, I have a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree, never used any of those.
I got into IM few months after graduating and I do much better than anyone I know from school.
But your method is completely flawed, the education system is kinda crap but yours wouldn't work in a million years.
Like who would go to the school website to look at ads? Do you go on your college website for fun?
