Does backlink language really count?

You have the option to get 100 good quality links from .com, .net, .org for $ 1000, or 100 good quality links from .it for $ 5000. (for example only)

What you choose? Does the link domain really count? Does the language of the backlink and description / article really matter?

Back then, until 2018, I had very good results linking ONLY (yes, only) from worldwide English domains. And recently, linking only from Italian, with practically no effect and every Google update gives me a hard time. I am talking about one site specifically, currently I'm testing different techniques on others. I kind of want it conservatively and safely, and it goes awkward.



What do you think? Local language, local backlink = good and safe backlink? Or maybe it actually doesn't matter?

All backlinks count. But if you use too many english ones (without using the italian exact match anchor text) then your website may appear less relevant for google.it search queries. Also, what happened to me after using only english backlinks for my sites, google started to put "translate this website" to my site in the SERP. It later disappeared after building links with the local language.

The domains do not matter much, but the actual language of the articles, where your link is placed, are important.

1. If you're trying to rank in the Italian SERPs (google.it), then in general you could aim for mostly links from good quality Italian sites. For example, say you have 20% links from English language sites, then the anchor text for a link from an English site should be in English, etc., that is the anchor text should be natural.
2. The amount of links required to rank for any given keyword, would depend on the competition. So, you would check out the link profiles of your top competitor's. You may not need 100 links for a low competition keyword.

I am very doubt about it.

I constantly see many sites which is ranking very high in specific countries not only having ONLY english backlinks, but even with english site language tags and english content.

It depends if you want all traffic from "it" then you should go for 5000$ and if you want clients from worldwide then you should go for 1000$ backlinks package.

The domain is very important specially if that's a money site or a valuable tier site. Usually the value of the links are been judged by PA/DA and OBL values. Check them and choose your backlink domains wisely.

Language is not a problem. though, don't add 100% foreign language backlinks. diversify with other languages and make sure to add more backlinks from the website language.

my own personal experience: go with the .it backlinks. it really makes a difference for getting to the top position in italy when you have backlinks from the IPs that are in the same country as the money site. Unless, you tell me that these .it domains are mostly hosted outside of Italy, which I doubt it.

Also, this assumes your content is OPTIMIZED for the search intent of your keyword

Otherwise, you just wasted your money

It should be a mixture of both. You will also find lots italian websites with .com , .net domains but the main thing is the quality of those website. The websites you are getting links from should have decent content on them and if they are relevant to your niche that would be perfect.
