Well for many people says that hitleap sux and i follow your mindset, but you need to see it out of the box, like any marketing tool.
My experience with hitleap lasts for years and probably will continue with many more to come.
Who makes a lot of $$$ with hitleap knows quite well that you need to have a much different angle than getting clicks or sell hits or whatever, you need to think quite well where there is demand and how can you supply that demand in a creative way.
For those who just say the HL is just fake traffic, i must agree and disagree, i mean indeed there is a lot of fake traffic from people who don't watch, but i am quite sure there is a minimal % who watch and buy stuff... otherwise i wouldn't make as much as i do, and if you dont trust me or believe in what i am saying, ask yourself this question:
Why Hitleap is still working strong for almost 20 years?
So what i can tell you once again is to think out of the box, research the market and be creative.
