WhatsApp, the encrypted messaging app that sells itself as a privacy-focused service, will start forcing users to share personal data with Facebook, its parent company.

In an announcement sent out to users on Wednesday, WhatsApp said users will have to agree to let Facebook and its subsidiaries collect WhatsApp data, including user phone numbers, contacts' phone numbers, location, and more.

If users do not agree by February 8, they will lose access.

Encrypts metadata as well as messages and calls, which neither whatsapp or telegram does.

Now Musk said to switch there has been a huge boost in the number of Signal signups. That's how you know people respect and trust him. Also the guy's got the resources and motivation to have an in-depth technical understanding of Whatsapp vs. Signal which most of us don't, as well as not having a horse in the race (apart from hating Zuckerborg) which always gives me more confidence when people give advice.
