My company bought banky.com domain for $30K on installment. We paid $10K last year and another $10K are due now but we don't want it anymore.

Do you think this domain worth $30K? Is this a good idea to pay the rest and then resell it? Because if we don't pay the rest, we might lose $10K.

The person who is making financial decisions of your company is very bad in choosing the right decision.

well ur company could be sued for more than 10k if u break the agreement thats for sure.
but the fact the domain is just sitting there and not being used or for sale is just wasteful. get it selling or something

If a numpty like your boss thought it was a good idea, someone probably will too. They might pay more.

I see ebanky.com has asking price of 100K GBP on Sedo.

Domain are worth exactly what people will pay for them, right now it is worth 30k (to your company only)

Now find someone who thinks it is worth 31.

Ask your company to pay off the balance and then try to auction it off. I think you can recover the investment at least. It's better than losing what has been paid already.

You made an agreement when you decided to buy the domain.

Honor the agreement first.

Wrong, good short catchy domains are like the wine.

Does not sound worth that much.

If they launch a crypto wallet onder the Banky name will be catchy :D

In regards the rest of the payments.. i'm sure that OPs company don't want to make the court asking them to honor the deal with x5 as a penalty.

I read their terms. If we don't pay, we will simply lose what has already paid. There is no legal issues. The domain is in their control until it is paid off.

But I like your other point. We could have made use of this domain, maybe resell it. We had a full year!

Asking price means dick. IMO it’s a crap domain at any price from a branding perspective, plus it rhymes with “wanky” which is never a good sign.

Cut it, run, and chalk it up.

I'll pay the registration + renewal fee for it if you wanna get rid of it fast.
