did bill gates paid you to post this?
cuz i don't agree with you at all, and i feel good being a woke person.

it's called the depopulation agenda, funded by rockefeller foundation, the united nations...etc just google it, god damn it
it seems that the media has brainwashed your brain enough to believe every propaganda shit.
wake up man, i don't like seeing you with the sheeps.
Aren’t there whole forums for people like you? It’s simply annoying that there is a new thread about this topic every day and there are always the same people discussing in these threads. There’s also nothing new in them. Any person coming to BHW for the first time would think this forum has a Anti-COVID agenda. If you “woke” people want to have your own cult-like mega thread then ask for it.

The problem is not the discussion itself. The problem is people are getting extremely emotional and it seems there are two groups of people on here: Those who are really scared, have no rational approach and just start insulting...and those who are having a rational approach and actually question wtf is going on.

By myself, I don't understand why people feel personally offended (its crazy actually) when someone is telling them they are not going to take the vaccine.
Why anyone would want to reduce the capacity to discuss important topics here is beyond me. What's the point of a community if it's not to discuss things like this?

Sure, if people want BHW to be strictly IM and work - go in that direction and see what the results to interactions on the forum and user retention are. The best thing about BHW is that you can swear, talk about controversial things, and get something you can't get in other communities. It's a unique and fun community because of this. As long as you're not too much of a prick you won't have mods policing what you say every 5 minutes - that's a good thing.

Religion and politics - ok, fair enough. The reason that they are bad topics to try to have a reasonable convo about is because of "faith" and "allegiance".. they both go beyond reason, and reason can never win. But the ever-evolving covid situation isn't and shouldn't be about faith or allegiance - instead discussing things in an honest way.

That includes not getting a hard-on from parroting the terms "anti-vaxxers" and "tin foil hat wearers" and then wondering why people get agitated by that, and also from not throwing random unrelated conspiracy theories into the thread and derailing them. If people just stuck to the facts, there wouldn't be anywhere near as much friction.

I don't see why people have their noses so out of joint by a topic of discussion that is absolutely not cut and dry. It's not as simple as saying that one perspective is right and one is wrong, therefore we should prevent anyone from saying the wrong perspective. Literally no one here knows anything concrete about the vaccine, and we're all trying to figure it out by bouncing information off each other. Some information might be blatant trolly bullshit (from both sides) but then ignore that instead of transfixing on it and saying that it's a huge problem when it's obviously not.

Discussions regarding covid and the vaccine in no way impede anyone else from discussing IM or focusing on work.. literally not at all.. In fact if all it takes to prevent you from working effectively is seeing some argumentative threads on BHW, you probably want to reflect on the way you work and your frame of mind instead of what those threads are about.

If you're trying to lose weight and you walk past McDonalds on the way to work every day, don't blame McDonalds being there for why you're not able to focus on your work for the rest of the day.. just walk a different route to work and let the fat people enjoy their Big Macs in peace.

Also, the hypothetical teens that may or may not be reading the discussions relating to vaccines and covid and then being harmed by them.. please.. what you think outside of BHW everyone is unilaterally agreeing that we should all be taking the Pfizer vaccine? They probably hear the same and more outside of BHW anyway.. it's an excuse to control speech by using some random hypothetical.. not a genuine care for whoever it is you think is being harmed.

And lastly, the problem with a mega thread is that then it will become a cesspit. Instead of being able to have specific topics about relevant facets of the pandemic, everything will be lumped into one long stream of consciousness that's going to be absolutely useless for anyone that does want to have a good discussion about what's going on.

Yeah, for people that can't stand reading the word "vaccine" it'll be fine because they'll only have to endure reading it once per day, but then the chaotic mess of a thread will last about a week before it becomes clearly pointless and actually toxic, and then it'll get removed too.

This thread is a discussion about whether or not COVID-19 discussions should be prohibited on BHW because it causes arguments.

So please, don't use the thread as an opportunity to continue arguing about COVID-19. Any other posts in this vein are getting deleted.
Cool signature! :)

So you want to restrict free speech, if it doesn't suit your point of view. A user on internet, especially on bhw should be able to distinguish between what's fake and what's genuine and in any case he he/she has the right to form his own opinion.

It should fall under the rule of no politics.

Sure vaccines/covid is not "politics" by default. Its a virus and a possible fix to the problem. But with the state of the world today that's not whats actually happening.

Its been hijacked by the left and the right to push political agendas.

Talks about lockdowns/masks/vaccine being a way to usher in a new world order or "the great reset". How is that not politics?

Every discussion includes wild unfounded conspiracy theories. Talks about the governments and "globalists". Calling people anti-vax and pro-vax shills.

I think that kind of discussion falls under the "no politics" rule. And has no place here.

It's not about censoring certain posts, it's about the spread of false info and the fact that 99.99% of people here have nothing to do with the medical field (except for their crappy health sites on which they promote shitty CB penis enlargement and weight loss pills) and, therefore, have no right to give any kind of advice about the matter (pro and anti-vaxxers alike). This is an IM forum, so let's keep the discussion around the impact of CoVID on IM.

It is very concerning about the spread of false information on this website. I guarantee most people here who are saying it’s a 99% survival rate and covid is nothing to be worried about have not stepped inside a hospital in the past year.

As a physician resident in the worst hit state in the US(California) I can tell you it’s a shitshow. The ED in my hospital is overflowing so much that they’re having to put people in the halls in hospital beds because there aren’t enough rooms for people. People end up sitting in the ED for days because there aren’t enough rooms in the hospital. There aren’t enough heated high flow machines so some people end up dying because they just don’t get access to oxygen. Code blues are called daily for covid patients on vents.

If you don’t want to get the vaccine, that’s your prerogative. However, I believe EVERYBODY needs to at least read the NEJM study on the vaccine prior to making a decision. They’ve dumbed it down enough for the layperson to read and make sense of it. I for one have already received it for all the patients I’ve lost and the families and friends who have lost loved ones to this disease.

And those saying that there’s a 99% survival rate and as long as you’re healthy and young, you’re okay, are spreading blatant misinformation. You have no idea how this disease will affect you. I’ve seen patients in their 90s survive without any problems and I’ve seen young people in their 20s-40s with no prior comorbidities end up on the vent and die or leave the hospital with lingering respiratory issues.

Anecdotal story but out of those in my residency who were infected, the one who got hit the hardest was the healthiest guy in the program. Worked out daily, ate healthy, great shape, and ended up getting hospitalized. He’s doing fine now but just goes to show that “being healthy” won’t 100% protect you

Forums are here for open discussion. The misinformation part can be debated too. What is your definition of misinformation? Is it the fact that an unproven vaccine is being imposed onto humans by a compnay that has been invloved in documented claims of illegal marketing and health care fraud? Or would you consider this misinformation; pfizer is a company that has faced thousands of lawsuits for medical injuries caused by their medications including drugs such as Bextra, Celebrex, Chantix, Effexor, ...? If you want to try their drugs then fine but it doesn't mean others have to..There is a healthy debate to be had instead of censoring.

Considering most countries have failed in educating populations on scientific thought, the UK being a good example with its average reading age of 10, how could we expect them to comprehend what must seem like witchcraft to the simple minds to comprehend anything at all. This issue is global with many countries having science denial at 60% of the population, the reason I mention this is that I fully expect the serious lack of intelligence to be reflected in the users of this forum.

So yes I think allowing this forum to be used to spread dangerous misinformation is a mistake with real-world tragedy as a result I fully expect the vote to go with allowing dangerous misinformation.

This is not something that should be a vote by users, this is a question for those that run the site, as an internet marketing forum, is dangerous science denial at a time when millions are dead reflecting well on the brand which is BHW?

I kind of understand what @fasttrak is saying, on my phone i stay on bhw homepage and look at the new threads/replies, it's annoying to see 1,2,3,x posts about the virus/vaccine/etc.. i think you should merge all threads into one thread and ban the discussions outside that thread.
I've posted on one such thread about my opinion and i think we should all focus on what BHW is really about, making money!

Most people aren't saying that there aren't people getting sick from covid, just that they'd like the right to discuss the potential impact of taking a vaccine with under a year of trialing.

Surely as a medical professional you could concede that ideally any vaccine would have more than 9 months of testing before being released.

That's the same thing that people would like to be able to discuss also. As someone that's studied science surely you understand the value of discussing contentious ideas in order to come to a better understanding.

For example, if speaking about the vaccine is banned here, you also (as a medical professional) would be unable to provide better information to people. Isn't there value in that?

how could we expect them to comprehend what must seem like witchcraft to the simple minds to comprehend anything at all.
The only good thing about a covid discussion ban is not reading any more of whatever this is meant to be.

Some members posts on this subject are actually harmful and potentially cause risk to life. We are NOT all adults here and BHW is no place to stir up confusion on life threatening health matters.

Please add this to the list of banned discussion.

If social media is actively trying to close down posts from actors with ulterior motives, it is not something we should tolerate from naive reposting in BHW.

I agree with this.

Especially since the arguments against the vaccine are plain simply nutcase schizo BS. If it had the slightest scientific basis I'd agree to leave them as a conversation piece but the arguments against vaccines are play simply insane and harmful to everyone TBH.

I feel it depends; The news is changing constantly so I don't feel that one megathread would be enough to contain the discussion.
Although it can be annoying when you have multiple duplicate threads asking if you're going to take the vaccine...
But merely censoring any voice that questions the vaccine and labelling it as misinformation, which the vaccine itself is in the early stages and hasnt been proven to be fully safe providing basis for questioning, isn't the way to go.

I don't think that banning this kind of discussion is a good idea.
I don't see that there is so many thread about this topics (there are much more threads about other topics), so for people that are feeling annoying, it's like everything, pass it.

But if there will be many threads per day about this topic, maybe creating a mega-thread. But honestly, it's not annoying (yet)

Really smart OP, really smart (this is ironic).
Posting a thread about banning some topic related posts, and what is your thread now about? Exactly what you want to fight.

If people here were smart enough, they wouldn't talk about such things as "covid" or "vaccine".
It clearly doesn't belong here.

Just ban covid-19 posts, the whole world is already opening its mouth too much about that subject. It'll only be gone when people stop talking about it anyway.

People can think for themselves. What is it with all these self-appointed heroes lately who take it upon themselves to save the world by fighting "misinformation"? Treating the entirety of Earth's population like special needs children. No one here is even qualified to say what's true or false. If you take any medical advice from an IM forum seriously, you're an idiot.

Take your HIV - Vaccine and let others decide for themselfs without censorship.

For me: I wont take it. Its just still not sure how this Vaccine will work out in the long term. There are some serious questions still. It is a manipulation of DNA and who the hell knows, what that will do with your children later on. These Vaccines are very different from normally used onea, which are well researched and tested. This one isnt.
