What’s your experience hiring Filipino workers?

I’ve been considering hiring a part-time Filipino worker to help me do a few tasks. Can you share your experience hiring a Filipino to help you out? I’m afraid that the process to weed out the lazy people from those worth hiring will be far more difficult than it’s worth.

I'm Filipino and the VA/Assistant industry is booming but at the same time getting saturated. If you need brain dead stupid jobs like data entry and log/input things - then I suggest you go for it and pay time by hour with time tracking.
Getting a $5-$10 per hour assistant in Fiverr/Upwork is probably your best bet.

There will always be lazy people, so choosing a dependable VA will often be by trial and error. You might get lucky hiring a dependable hardworking VA on your first try. Others have to waste time and money before hiring a good one.

That is a really good site, the freelancers on there are verified by govt ID etc. Two of our team are from there and they're great workers.

My intent was never to be racist. I’m surprised that someone will take work seriously while only being paid $3-$5 per hour. The Philippines seems to be the cheapest place to hire someone and that’s why I gravitated towards there.

5-10$/h does not seem all that cheap to me. At that rate you can hire eastern european talent easily.

You have to be aware of the skills whom ur hiring. Lots of trial and error but getting someone thru references is a great way to hire.

Different cultures have different attitudes to work.

as to OP if you only need one or two then onlinejobs.ph will be fine. Any more get boots on the ground and you'll reduce your costs drastically.
