Hi guys,

I'm researching a few search terms and I am finding conflicting data between ahref and semrush. Ahref will show a low keyword difficulty and then when I run the keyword in Semrush it show it as being very difficult to rank for.

Can someone help me wrap my head around this or recommend a better technique?

Just use one or the other tool for keyword research. Keywords that you actually want to rank for check manually to see if you can compete for them.

P.S. Ahrefs is better.

Okay thank you for the advice.

How would you go about manually checking? I know this could be a lengthy answer so my apologies

Search the forum for manual keyword difficulty check and you will find plenty of existing answers and guides. There is a very high chance that whatever question you got, it most likely has already been answered before on the forum, so just search up and start reading.

Semrush over Ahrefs any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Ahrefs KW difficulty sucks, Semrush is actually pretty decent.

You can try other tools like keywordfinder as well. Also Moz is better than Ahrefs.

Manually check the SERPs for each keyword to see whether you have a chance of ranking in the top 10 (ideally top 3). For instance, if you have a new site, are there are any sites in the top 10, that you could out rank (ex. sites that are low authority and/or poorly optimized).
Ahrefs has a 'SERPs' feature where you can check metrics.
Serpworx is another tool that also has a browser extension, that uses data from multiple tools.

On semrush all keywords are hard and very hard.
I am using Ahrefs.

Ahref for keyword difficulty accuracy and ubersuggest for keyword volume accuracy
