He was spamming the hell out of insta before they tighten up their spam algo.
Show off, draw attention, get followers, spoken by media, spoken around forums and IMers, you name it.
Same as the EGG, but spammy.

No, he used to spam a few hundreds of thousands an hour back when it still was possible.
Now he's just posting 1 meme / post an hour. It's pretty common and there are bunch of accounts with 1m+ posts.
Answer: there was an Instagram API a long time ago that allowed you to post without any limits. That way you could automatically post tens/hundreds of thousands of images or videos per hour. Not possible anymore, as they've removed this.

Why did he do it? To stand out and grab attention and he succeeded as you can see from the followers and the thread you just created, people get curious and end up following him.
How? Instagram has gotten tough to deal with recently, back in the good ol' days, things were a lot more chill and you could shit-post like a crazy maniac without worrying much about the blocks and suspensions. And you would see if that you scroll down till the end and see the first post, it will be at least a year or two old.
