Does backlink color actually matter?

lets say I have a website with some traffic, and lower down below the line it has some instructions and general welcoming words.. So in that text I may sometimes link to a similar site or whatnot.. I don't really want people to connect the 2 sites together and start making assumptions, so I may sometimes purposefully make html <a> element to be same color as the text that surrounds it. So basically it's more for the search engine, rather than for people..

does the link standout color actually matter? could that be sending negative signals to google? does anyone know?

I don't think color matters at all. You're over thinking it. People use colors to enhance the UX for visitors.
 
well, i don't understand for example why does it matter what class IP you have your website resolve to? most people never even care or know there are several classes of IP addresses, obviously they don't consider that as something affecting their website's SEO.. Yet you can find many opinions that IP class actually matters... that's why I am asking... maybe someone ran into something like that.. of course it's hard to generalize something like that, so it's all about personal opinions here..
 
Make sure the background color is not as same as the content or backlink.
 
@OP: It matters, but indirectly. If you make the anchor of the link same color as other surrounding text, there will not be a lot of CTR (click-through-rate) to that link, or probably none at all, because the link is indistinguishable from text. The lower this CTR, the less "juice" is transferred from the page to that link, which depending on what you are looking for, might be a good or bad thing.

He is talking about the color of the anchor text.

IP classes have 100x less weight in ranking than most people here admit to. Then again, those same most people are selling backlinks and blog networks that are "safe" because they come from different IP classes. I can build a HQ site in a bad IP neighborhood and still rank fine if my content & links are OK. I can also build PBN-s in those same "bad" ranges and they will never get penalized if I'm not stupid enough to leave "content footprints" between them, which is what most people do (including sellers) and then blame it on the IP.

He's just saying that SEO are devils playground since we cannot prove Gods existing right now and covid-19 will sooner than ever spun some articles. Given we don't know how backlinks has been effectively put, we must consider Trump for cambridge analytica matters when harvesting Instagram account.

if you do that - you're a racist.. i think these days you can't be singling out items by their color... it's not PC...
it would only work if you were kneeling every time you'd blacklink or link black.. can't be when it's about or related to black...
 
I think a crawler doesn't care one bit about text colour of links. I don't even think that you should be bothered about CTR/link juice Unless the other site is yours. The only time Google does care is if you are hiding keywords in the same colour as the background
 
Links are blue. Hovers are red. And after all we must consider things like two headed horses like trojans and javascripting pages from the second page of black hat world if not? I don't know what you're talking about.
 
Of course it can. It's just basic conversion rate optimization really.

"Bing increased their revenue $80 million by finding the exact color of blue for their links."

For buttons, red and green perform really well. Maybe link color too. Split test different ones.
