Expired domains after core update

Hi guys, what is everyone doing with expired domains after this update?

Same as before, nothing, more, less?

If you have purchased some expired domains, are you restoring the old content and then adding in links to the content, or just redirecting the old pages/posts/links to a money site?

Added old content along new content and I usually add a few do follow links after about 3 months.

This core update didn't change anything related to domain authority that I can tell. So no changes for me about buying or not buying domains, I still would buy a good expired domain regardless of Google.

I had 2 expired domains with pretty good metrics. For both of them I rebuilt the old content and structure and let them sit for a month or so.

Just last week I started using the first domain for a niche site, smashed out some content using translated content and checked with 1text so it's not anywhere else and its actually doing pretty good.

Some kw are already on page 2 and all the articles are indexed - the domain is completely different from niche btw. For old pages that had links to them, instead of 301ing them, I created a simple page that said something like 'this page is not available, please go back to our homepage httpsxxxxdotcom'.

The second domain I just started yesterday, different niche all together, but nothing has indexed yet.

Its just usual steps followed while picking expired domain check with history there should be spammy links and relevant domain etc., keep updating content and do the rest.

That's strange.

Everyone is claiming it was all about it. More authority = better rankings.

Nothing has changed at all, everything still works as it should. That means, half the time it works and half the time it doesn't. ))

Update, at least from what I am seeing, had nothing to do with expired/auction domains at all.

Regarding the OP, rebuilding the content completely is the ideal solution. That sometimes cannot be done. Either the domain is not Archived well, or you are afraid of copyright.

In that case, try to rewrite the old content or add new one that's as similar as the old. Then redirect page by page. At least the pages that have backlinks pointing to them.
