Hi all, I have 2 websites in the same niche. Is it safe to buy guest posts and link to both of my sites from the same guest post?

If it is a one off you'll be fine. Just make sure you're not interlinking the sites elsewhere or you'll end up with a link wheel.

Right I see. So a one off is fine...but more is a footprint?

The problem of doing this as it has been already stated is the footprint you leave and the hints to Google that both sites are highly correlated. It won't be an issue but over the time you will see diminishing results, which is suboptimal. Let's say you buy 20 guest posts. It's better to put 10 links to one site and 10 links to the other site, than 20 links to both sites simultaneously. You can link both in 2 or 3 guest posts at most, but still after the first, the 2nd and the 3rd will diminish the result to a degree that is unknown and you will be hinting Google of that correlation.

But if both sides are correlated (for example like in a public blog network like Vox Media, The Verge, Polygon, Recode, etc...) then you can do this with that issue.

Never do anything systematically when you work with SEO and links. Remember that links is what we can consider black hat, including guest posts, niche edits, and any other technique regarding the creation of links.

So the maxim should always be: introduce variability in any action you do with your link building process. Randomness is your friend.
