Site migration - best way? (Question not a guide)

I have a (betting prediction) site on a vps and i want to migrate it to a dedicated server.
Site traffic is about 7-8k per day and ranks pretty well.
I was thinking of buying the dedicated, set it up. set up wordpress, transfer the site and then change nameservers etc.
is this the best way for not downtime and not loose any of the ranking? or is it wrong?
I must add that posts are updates every day. so can i just transfer the database's post table to be up to date?

is there an other way to transfer it?( lowes downtime and rankings in mind)

Hi there.
There are many ways to migrate a site, depending on the host your with and the one your moving to. For example if both are on C-panel then its easy to shift it directly from one to the other. But if you do not have such things available.
Then best way to migrate a WP site I think is to do the following:
Install the plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/
Follow the instructions and its very very easy to do it.
Once moved, yes flip the Name servers - BUT if you also using a CDN e.g CloudFlare, you do not flip/update the NS, you edit the DNS records on CloudFlare instead..... with the new IP and other DNS records as needed etc.

Make sure the site is compatible with the new server. But this I mean maybe your php is not the most recent version on your current host but the new host it is.... in this situation you could get all sorts of issues with the site once moved. So just pay attention to the server configs, php configs etc etc.

no i have updated to php7.4 so i think there will not be a problem. yea using now cpanel and to the new server will use cpanel to.
how can you swift from cpanel?(just point me to the direction, don't wont to abuse your time)
i can migrate manual the site, its not a problem, my main consern is how i keep both sites up(And updated) until the ns update.

Also once you have moved the site - check it, make sure its ok, flip NS or Update CDN DNS if applicable and the site is live on the new hosting. Thats it. Just forget the 'old' site and if the new one is working as expected, not need to keep paying for the old VPS longer than you need to mate

You can ask that specific company to help you migrate it, or, post in the hire a freelancer section. I tried before to migrate without the knowledge and was a mess.

i have migrate before sites, not a problem, the problem here is that its updated every day. that is my main concern

Contact a good hosting company, I am sure they will help with the transfer very quickly.

If you do not have good knowledge in server and network administration, than try to find web good service provider or management company which will allow you to migrate with minimal downtime or without it.
But first of all think of full backup of all your data before migration. That is very important to have your data safe.

Most of the hosting companies provide free migration support. And if you are using cPanel and plan to use cPanel on dedicated server too, No downtime at all, because it provides you the facility to move the site in realtime

What i do is just zip the whole public_html, download it then upload to my new server and unzip it.

Once that is done, i aswell download the SQL Database from old hosting and then upload it to the new one. Just make sure your details in wp-config.php are correct.

Have been doing this for many years now, never had issues, also imo its the fastest way if your internet speed is decent.
