PLEASE HELP ME. (helluva 1st thread)
About 2 months ago during a Windows Update, I was hit with this error on my laptop. I cannot fix it, therefore my HP laptop has no sound. I've tried everything including (but not limited to):
I feel like there's an obvious solution I'm not seeing, so I'm putting my ego aside & asking for help. It would be humiliating to take my laptop to Geek Squad, they laugh, run a simple check, fix it then charge me.
If I gotta do it, I gotta do it. But I ask my fellow BHWers, please help a Black Hatter out.
I have an HP EliteBook Folio 9470m

- updating sound drivers
- going through the 'add legacy hardware' & 'scan for hardware changes' options in device manager
- uninstalled sound drivers & rebooted
- tried the Windows help wizard
- tried the HP help wizard
- googled every relevant phrase I could think of & followed all suggestions
- downloaded and installed restoro to recover the driver files (never heard of it before)
- downloaded and installed Realtek audio drivers (these were not my defaults)
- tried command prompt commands
- and other shit that didn't work
