hello there BHW

am trying to quit smoking, starting today, don't worry not going to start a journey thread about it. I am curious to know how did you do it?

also please note that am not the type of guy that has the patience to do stuff on levels or installments, am either all in or all out. keeping that in mind please share with me how you managed to quit for good.

Much Obliged :)

Just stopped out of the blue.

Wound up saving money, smelling better, and feeling better about myself.

Good luck, once the physical dependency wears off, you have to be better than the mental dependency. Then you're golden.

Just focus on what you doing, don't think about the smoke, let it done fast and drinking something keep yo straight

I was smoking 50 cigarettes a day 7 years ago. One night I smoked my last cigarette and gave the rest of the pack to my friend. He is still a smoker even today though.

I never looked back. I stuck indoor and lived on fluids for the next 3 days. Now am off caffeine too for the last 5 years.

The trick is it doesn't work cutting down the numbers gradually. You will have to stop completely.

If you can, try doing Nicotine anonymous meetings online.

Cheers

don't try to stop completely, but when not drinking only.

It's infinitely easier to stop smoking when you're not drinking than it is to completely stop.

Once you've got sober times under control (no smoking when not drinking), then only drink once per week. smoke as much as you want. When the night ends, throw all of your cigarettes away. don't smoke the following day.

Then once you've done that, you will have broken your relationship with smoking. ie. now smoking is not a habit you have no control over, it's a habit you have tied specifically to one time of the week for a single day each week (unless you're alcoholic in which case don't do this).

Once you get to this point, you can either enjoy smoking once a week to let the pressure off a bit, or you can go for a week without drinking as well, see how it feels, and then consider either stopping drinking, or modifying your relationship with smoking while drinking.

The key is outthinking yourself.

An alternative that might work to completely stop is to get shitfaced and try to smoke 10 packets in one night. Even if it feels ridiculous that you're chain smoking for 10 hours on end, push through and keep going. It's in your best interest to.

Then the following day, make note of the fact that you can hardly breathe and keep coughing up gack which is a shade of greyish-beige, and then visualise if this was how you would feel permenantly. That's called emphysema.

This second method works best if you're also throwing up the next day or if other negative life events occur like your girlfriend breaking up with you or you falling off a building the night before. Really drives home how much nicer it feels when your life is in order and your health is too.

I was never addicted to smoking, but occasionally i smoke a pack a day or two. I either smoke a lot or nothing. But it's always combined with drinking, so it's not an every day occurence. :) At least this was the case before, but ironically covid-19 came to the rescue. I don't smoke at home and where i live, we need to wear a mask not just in stores, but on the street too (applicable in cities with 10k+ population), so practically since the virus situation started, i bought maybe 2 packs total. There aren't any festivals, pubs are closed. There's no reason to smoke.

I quit with a vape.

It's not ideal. It's like giving up one habit for a new one.

In my experience, the vape was never as enjoyable as smoking, but it did suffice during strong cravings. Eventually, I just stopped vaping too.

I enjoy smoking. I still think about it often, but the physical dependence is gone.

I used to smoke 40 dunhils 15 years ago . For last 7 years i have been only vaping cannabies. (here its legal lol!

What helped me to drastically reduce smoking, was nicotine chewing gum and once I drastically reduced smoking, I gradually stopped taking the nicotine chewing gum.

Before you quit smoking - first think about it few days/weeks - do you really want to stop and why. When the thoughts come for you not to stop try to "win" them and put affirming arguments and positive vibes against it - you got the power and it will be much easier later down the road

You need to increase physique momentum from the morning - try to jog or something like that

Change your diet - It's a cliché I know but healthier your diet - easier the journey (apple a day and that kind of s**t really works)

Drinking is a no go - As you already know drinking makes it harder to quit and you will probably light one up

Find some sport that you like - I know I already mentioned body workout in the morning but man that's in the morning you need to find some sport that you like and that will make you sweat. Personally I like kick ass and don't mind when I get my ass kicked from a faster more advanced guy

Spend some quality time with your foamily and friends - yea that is all about that's the reason you are want to stop in the first place to get quality of life to another level

That's it for now I have to go walk out the dogs :D

Hope this helps

Good luck and keep us posted!" ;)

Vapes never worked for me the only thing I manage to get out of buying a vape is using the top lid as a cigarette holder

I started smoking american spirit instead which is pure clean tobacco, free of monstano-like evils (which are responsible for the real ills associated with smoking, for one) and is as good as organic tobacco.
Now I smoke mostly just aztec tobacco which is essentially organic tobacco, much crisper than ordinary commercial brands and one roll alone will go a lot further than even a whole pack of cigarettes made with normal tobacco. Its a similar experience and yet so so different at the same time. If you can't go cold-turkey, try it. At least it will lessen the toxic load. You can even smoke it in a miniature pipe from tome to time, if you don't want a full tobacco hit.

I've quit with the gum as well. I've quit about 5 times. I haven't smoked in over a year this last time, so maybe I finally spanked the habit.
