Google indexing

ok so google did away with the indexing tool, and that's fine and all but when submitting new sitemaps or just going off of the old ones shows no recent results in the serp's, how much time does it take? what other options are there to get your site crawled for recent or sudden changes. I know there has to be another way just like when they stopped that Lil snippet tool thing.

Is your keyword indexed, is it low comp, did you build links? Sitemap help google discover stuff doesn’t help you rank

well, the site is already ranked but I made some recent important changes and I haven't seen them yet I have submitted numerous sitemaps, so the question isn't about ranking, it's the changes such as titles and meta tags

One of my two new sites on WordPress still hasnt been indexed after 1 month- the other one was quick though. I really need to learn why one works and the other doesnt
