Thinking of updating 50+ articles, Should I consider to update them?

I am confused. Should I update them now? Or wait until Google fixes their Manual Indexing Request option. Cause I think it will be challenging to index the updated version of my Articles on Google, as I have read some same cases here in BHW.

70% of articles are ranking on the second page. Rest of them are on the first page (but mostly are ranking below the top 5 position)

My regular articles are also getting index within three days max, but After the indexing issue happened, I never dare to update any articles (though I have uploaded more than 30 articles), so now I am confused that How much time it will take to index the updated version of the already existing article. Hope you understand.

Myself personally, I'd take say 5 of the second page ones and do these then sit back 2-3 weeks to see the effect.

as @Mechy correctly mentioned it... it's the garbage that needs 'request indexing'.
I re-designed my website and had no problems with google and bing re-indexing the site, WITHOUT manual re-indexing.
So the answer is YES... improve your articles.
today it's no manual indexing, tomorrow it's syphilis and then 10 years later, you'll still be stuck with old articles... don't look for excuses, update your articles and let google do its job.

I would go with what @MisterF said, and I believe if your site is already a regularly updated one, it should have GBots crawling it often. So, indexing, in that case, would not be a problem.

Related question: articles that were published like 2 or more years ago, performed very well (gained tons of keywords&traffic) then by time slowly kept losing keywords&traffic.

1) Can updating these pages possibly cause a recovery?
2) Can I change the page link? (modern search engine prefers shorter links)
3) Can I change the publishing date manually up-to-date? (actually, it can be considered as "cheating" but the date appears on the search and everyone prefers fresh content)
