I appreciate that's a vague question... but i'm new to Social Media as such, having just ranked websites using traditional onpage and links etc.

So here's my question... i've got a payday loans website... i've just setup a Twitter and YouTube account for it (Primarily for the backlink it creates).

No-one will follow/like my accounts... it's payday loans after all. Everyone hates us.

Is there any SEO benefit in 'acquiring' some Twitter followers and posting tweets with links back to relevant pages?

Is there any SEO benefit in making some videos and links back to individual pages?

Or is it all about user interaction, and with no followers/viewers is there any/much point?

Appreciate any advice and services you can recommend :)

Payday loans is one of the hardest niches to promote.. I am talking top 5 hardest

I know... I'm making money. Just wondering if Social can help at all with regards to SEO in this case.

As an accepted opinion in the industry. Yes, social signals help to rank the site and this is a factor for Search Ranking. There is no even debates on this.
But in my practice, I don't see any significant benefits from sites with a lot of social signals today. And I have never seen an SEO study from anybody that would prove it.

Thanks for the reply.

I setup the accounts primarily to get a backlink back, but they also have the added benefit of making the site look a bit more authoritative and legitimate (it's just an affiliate site after all).

I suppose the question is... Do I bother posting on them regularly if realistically I know I won't get any followers or meaningful interaction?

Will buying some subscribers etc help if they're not going to interact?

Or even buying some retweets etc?
